SHBA Passaround Disappointment

Mulder, if no one comes forward on this, or perhaps are unaware that the damage occurred, I will have your back on getting your baby all fixed up. I am sure others will as well. And I am pretty sure it was unintentional. But it is the least I can do for your hospitality of allowing me to handle a knife I will unlikely ever own. Thanks bro. :)

I wonder what might be done to simply repair the existing micarta. Maybe that corner can simply be rounded a little more and the other side rounded to match.

Dave, congrats on the stamped handle SHBA.

+1, We could call it a week's "rent". Count me in if this is how it goes.

Thanks for sharing such a nice knife with all of us, and it is a shame that it was damaged like that.

I don't have any abrasive hair that I can contribute, but I would like to help make this right in any way that I can.

Although I did love on that knife pretty good, I thought I had been pretty gentle with it, and checked to make sure it was not damaged when I shipped it... That said, I agree with Tyrkon, I would happily "chip" in to have it repaired, (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun!)

You were nice enough to share it with us, the least we can do is make sure you aren't out any cash in this deal!

The pics you requested are being emailed
now.

No worries my friend. . . . Send it in and we'll make her purty again at no charge. . . . We'll also cover the shipping costs in both directions. . .

I'm sure that whatever happened to it, happened in shipping and/or the person was unaware of the damage.

On top of this, I will personally sit down and give your knife some much needed abuse counselling over a full bottle of JWB!!!!!!!!. . . It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it!!!

Did I just use French in a post? I don't even speak French.

See the magic that happens when Jerry comes around? :p

Edited to add: Hey, did anyone else notice the hidden message in Jerry's post? :D

Geting it Factory Sharpened is very cool.

If the micarta hurts the hand then smoothing is in order, if not then it is just good proof that the knife got used, like it is supposed to, Hard.

If it does not hurt the hand I would leave the micarta alone.

Let Jerry play with it, you might get a cool surprize, you never know just what he will do when he gets in front of a Grinder

THE MAN HAS SPOKEN

Boss Hog,

While your offer is tempting I think Mulder has decided to send it to Grinducci for a complete reshaping. :p :p :p

Seriously Jerry, that is super cool of you.   Again, one of the many reasons we buy and brag about your products. As opposed to many other companies (not just knives) out there, you make the customer feel like he or she really counts/matters. And that is important. I raise my blade to you sir. :)

Thanks again for the pass-around Mulder. That was awesome of you and I hope it does not scare you, or anyone else, off from future pass-arounds. So thanks a bunch brutha! You Rock! Boss Hog Rocks! INFI rocks!

Which reminds me that I have a BATACSE that needs some beatings. :D

Dave, I'm sorry to hear that this has happend. It's a shame. Anyway congrats on the new INFI:thumbup:

Boss HOG, that's what I call service!!!!

Jerry,

Thank you for a very generous offer.
I'll let you know when to expect the knife based on the completion of the passaround in a few weeks.

To all those that offered help and assistance I just want to say thanks.
It is the willingness of those not even involved to help that make this forum a pleasure to be a part of.
Now if anyone still feels bad you can help by finding me another SHBA. :p

Well, those pictures above made my stomach drop a few floors. :(

I just received OTE's marvelous NO-E. I've been on the phone with him to let him know his knife looks good.

There is a ding on the butt of the knife at one of the INFI edges. I'll be taking a clear picture of that and e-mailing it to OTE for his review. The knife came to me in an undamaged box and it was very securely packed.

Otherwise, knife looks pretty good to me! Edge is rolled at a few points...very small points. I'll take care of that with a hone. Knife is sharp enough to chop but no push-cutting in its immediate future.

I'd say the folks who've been previous recipients of OTE's generous loan have treated his blade with respect. I know I will! I shall also take a few pictures of the blade before I send it on to its next location...just in case.

And here's another salute  to OTE for his willingness to share a marvelous piece of Busse history with us new piglets. :)

P.S. Dear Jeepnut...that is NEVER a hidden message in any of Jerry's communications!
