This one seems off, but then again, it's not one I am that familiar with to begin... with. It's a smooth bolt, but the things that are troublin' me are the choil area being rough, the belly area of the handle isn't quite the same as the spine meaning lighter color and different texture, etc. There is light dimpling covering the blade. So, what say you? :)

not at all unusual to have some coating/finish inconsistencies on those early models.

It's crap..send it here to be buried with the rest of the SHBAs!!!

But really, not unusual at all. The older ones I have have some of the same traits.

Does it have a white coating beneath the black?

Don't have a white coating underneath it. Almost seems like it has the black coating and then a blued coating.

I don't think I've seen pictures of any SHBA's that were identical.
Anyway they came is remarkable. Perfect blade!

The roughness is from the waterjet cutout marks that weren't cleaned up, not uncommon. I have seen the handles on top and bottom of BBSHSHs, SHBAs and MS that had the black paint removed and were blued for protection, again, a common finish. Cool knife with a A2 blade, don't let Mulder get close to it since he lives around close!!!

.

Do not forget the sub-sets of SHBAs.

Start with the two bolt, then the smooth three bolt , the slotted three bolts, the slotted three bolts in INFI, the slotted true 5/16ths three bolts in INFI I heard of six and sold two of those, then the Hole type slab fasteners, at least one of those in 5/16ths(I still have that one)

To finish up lets remember the Few, the Proud, the Early SHBA variants.

I don't seem to post pictures much anymore, lots of new fat knives in peoples pictures lately.

I took the Infamous Fat Bastard Triple grind 5/16ths INFI Badger with Hole type fasteners to Blade West a year ago and passed it and a few others around the table for personal fondling.

You Shoulda Been There.
