About a year and a half ago, was going through some very severe financial and marrital times. Long story short, had to sell 17 of my 19 Busse's. One of the very last to go was my SHBM. This knife had alot of history to it. It was my second one, triggered my initial rant to and about Jerry on these boards (which was resolved after a long phone call with Jerry BTW), was carried to at least 3 countries on my LBV for some years as a grunt, was overall my favorite knife period. Anyway, sold it to a forum member, who sold it to another who honored it by using it.
Yesterday, at the INFI 1500, a gentleman and fellow forumite walked up to me with a beautiful D-guard wrapped SHBM and asked if it looked familiar. It took a few seconds but all of a sudden it hit me like a ton of INFI. This was MY old SHBM  It had alot of new character to it but once in my hand the connection was made. He told me had had hunted it down and got it from it's 3rd owner with me in mind as he knew how much it meant to me. He then floored me when he asked if I'd like it back :D When I asked him how much, he told me about when we first met a few years ago, that I'd forgotten. When he told me the price I could have been knocked over by a feather. I'm not a very emotional guy but I'm not afraid to say there were tears in my eyes :o Of course I said yes and now she's come home.
My whole point I guess is to point out how Busse owners are just a little different, in ALOT of ways, from other brand loyal knife people. These 3 men gave me a lesson in HONOR that will never be forgotten. These boards are a place where TRUE friends meet. Thanks guys :)

Great story Bob. You are right, we have some of the finest folks among the ranks of hogs. Congrats on getting your baby back.

Whats a SHBM

SHBM = Straight Handle Battle Mistress, one of the best Busse knives ever!

Awesome story Bob. It's VERY rare that someone is able to be reunited with a lost piece from their past. When I was around nine years old, right around when the first Rambo movie came out, I was given a "Rambo" knife. One of the cheap ones with the golf ball size compass on the handle. I did everything with that knife. I don't know what happened to it but I would trade one of my Busse's right now just to have that piece of crap back. My same age as me cousin still has his.

Glad to hear you had some HOGS looking out. It's really cool that you didn't even have to ask.

If this is a stupid question don`t answer it. What is a LBV??

Load bearing Vest.

That is not a "stupid question". If you want to see stupid question, see some of the questions I asked when I joined the Busse Combat Forum. :o :D

For example: http://www.actiongear.com/cgi-bin/t...ad bearing vest&backto=/agcatalog/results.tam

I have one similar to this and it is great for camping. Very easy to carry lots of little things like flashlights, batteries, matches, and other little things.

wow! when you told me that story at the show-i didn't think it just happened! that is an awesome piece and great story of how things will work themselves out in the end sometimes.

Like I'd said before, there is more to Busse than just the knives.

Hogs rock. Nuff said.

I agree Tim,,

I would sell one of my kidneys before I would ever sell my SHBM

I have four, all different, all great!

:D

Congrats... great story. I'm finding out by hanging around more and more that what you speak of is very true.
Makes me think that this breed of people aren't dying out, that there are a few of us left. Gives me hope for my kids and someday their children.

BUMP FROM THE PAST

The reason why I bumped this thread that is over a year old is that I would like you newer guys to see what Hog's are partially about. It's this type of brotherhood that keeps Busse Hog's going and keeps them coming back here.

It's starts out about the knives, then remains with brotherhood.

Flatlander, my apologies if this was rude to resurrect your thread. :)
