About a year and a half ago, was going through some very severe financial and marrital times. Long story short, had to sell 17 of my 19 Busse's. One of the very last to go was my SHBM. This knife had alot of history to it. It was my second one, triggered my initial rant to and about Jerry on these boards (which was resolved after a long phone call with Jerry BTW), was carried to at least 3 countries on my LBV for some years as a grunt, was overall my favorite knife period. Anyway, sold it to a forum member, who sold it to another who honored it by using it.
Yesterday, at the INFI 1500, a gentleman and fellow forumite walked up to me with a beautiful D-guard wrapped SHBM and asked if it looked familiar. It took a few seconds but all of a sudden it hit me like a ton of INFI. This was MY old SHBM
It had alot of new character to it but once in my hand the connection was made. He told me had had hunted it down and got it from it's 3rd owner with me in mind as he knew how much it meant to me. He then floored me when he asked if I'd like it back
When I asked him how much, he told me about when we first met a few years ago, that I'd forgotten. When he told me the price I could have been knocked over by a feather. I'm not a very emotional guy but I'm not afraid to say there were tears in my eyes
Of course I said yes and now she's come home.
My whole point I guess is to point out how Busse owners are just a little different, in ALOT of ways, from other brand loyal knife people. These 3 men gave me a lesson in HONOR that will never be forgotten. These boards are a place where TRUE friends meet. Thanks guys
