SHBM old school question (Cobalt help)

GREAT SCORE XAMAN!!!!!! INFI on a SHBM spine always puts a tingle on my spine! Thanks for the Pics.

Great find, Eli.

I'm sure that, if you divulge what you paid, several HOGs are going to feel sick. :D

well, he wasn't giving it away. lets's just say he took the original price and marked it up for a "decent" profit. he invited me to haggle twice as i fondled it. i didn't haggle much, but did ask him twice if he felt good about the deal and he said he felt very good about it.

he knew a bit about busses, just not how precious this one was. But i didn't either. (of course when i posted the original question i had already bought it before pbubsy and foo mentioned the insane prices. i bought it before i ever left his table, just thinking that ANY SHBM in good shape under 1k was a sound investment!

i've been around long enought that i should know all the SHBM details but must confess that i don't know the difference between a 1 of 300 and a non 1 of 300. this is my first and i was just very fortunate to find it. someone said " even a blind hog finds an acorn occasionally..." lol.

the problem now is that i have to pay for it. i went into the show flat broke and determined not to spend any money. Now i need to figure out how to raise some cash to pay for the check i wrote! the wife says i have one week before she starts paying the bills!!!

i'm back in the hotel room now, time to finally get a better look at this beauty...

Great story: My advice (even though I'd stomp hooves for it) is HANG ONTO IT FO EVA!!! That's a good first mistress too! REALLY GOOD! Too bad you don't get to use it :D now you're going to need a user. It's impossible to hold one and not be able to USE ONE!! :D Good luck!

congrats Eli, an awesome score. It is an LE, no doubt, one that was sent out during the mid to late part of the SHBM production run, though not as late as #236, that Tony shows, but not as early as the other one Tony shows. It is in between somewhere. You scored a diamond my friend, and the value estimates are definitely on the low side. It being an LE is worth easily 2200. You have no idea how happy I am for you.

PS: when you take a close look at the blade, tell me if from the tip to two inches back the profile from spine to edge is more convex than flat. So there is more steel down close to the edge, or is it truly flat ground all the way to the edge?

:D:D There is some truth there - I bought a user SHBM after handling a new one, and they are nice knives to use!

Eli, You got a GREAT knife at what sounds like a really good price too - congratulations!

Gene

Yeah, the SHBM is the most aesthetically pleasing knife to me as well. The SHSH might be pretty close if it weren't for the incredible benefit of the longer blade on the BM.

Though I really like my SARsquatch for being ugly :p

Under $1K?

Under $1K??

I think I'd better go lay down now ... until the room stops spinning.

[Like Cobalt and Pbubsy say, congratulations to a fine Hog. You definitely deserve this diamond. Keep it ... in perpetuity.]

Under 1K - I'd take it, sell it for the 2200 and get a plain old "regular" one at 1,100 and consider it FREE.

I will give you a little something for your Silent Knight if it will help with your bills ;) :) I am in a giving mood today :D

The Same Logo as the Ghost Steel Hearts, just hit a little harder.

So, right there in print, 50 of the Presentation Grade made with Hole type handle fasteners.

Maybe 6 different types of Presentation Grade Straight Handled Battle Mistresses?

Different handles, logos and where the logo is placed on the knife, types of numbers, and placement of numbers?

Collect the Whole Set.

Now I got to go look at mine and think about just where it fits in.

Number 350 symetrically ground, same INFI logo on the back of the handle, Slotted screws, same type of grooves cut in handle slabs, but darker micarta.

One of Three Hundred style front swedge.

Side of blade logo reads.
