I could be wrong but if you look at the choiless version zoomed in on the website there appears to be a an unsharpened part of the blade closest to the handle. Which would normally be where the choil is. So I don't think your gaining more blade per say. Just a heads up incase that would change your mind.

I think you're gaining a bit more edge. The edge runs right to the plunge line and the ricasso is solid all the wat back to the talon hole.

Choil for me  once I place the call.

Guys, some posts here have put me into thinking more about this choil / non question.

Nevermind, I can figure this out on my own, thanks.

The choil and talon hole are signature Busse... couldn't imagine ordering one without it. Well maybe if I already had a dozen or so.

You can't really go wrong either way but, in this case, I prefer a choil.

If you look at Busse's with a choil, the choil straddles the edge / ricasso and is centered just under the plunge line. In essence you are gaining half the width of the choil in extra blade edge. Not really enough gain in extra edge to make me want to go choil'less. Plus, I just like the look of a choil'd knife over a non-choil.

To each his own though. That's why they offer these options. Some like a choil, some don't.

I haven't bought a Busse in six years, but I went choil. I like the looks and even on a custom or high end machete would still get one.

The only thing I'd whittle with this beast would be points on fence posts :D
And for that I don't need a choil

I like the look of the choil, without it looked a little weird to me. I stuck with the choil.

I have at one time or another had a few Dozen with a Choil, maybe, just Maybe it is time to try one without.

Also, it would give me a great opportunity to do a side by side comparison to match the Original INFI with the New!

A few dozen sounds about right. You may not remember me from Cali, but I saw your spread back then.LOL
