I'm currently working on a Viking/Saxon era short sword made from shear steel that I made at Ric Furrer's (www.doorcountyforgeworks.com) workshop. It is a period correct steel made by carburizing wrought iron. I love it because it maintains the beautiful patterning inherent to the wrought iron while having the hardness of carbon steel. I made this little blade to test the heat treat parameters before quenching my 14" blade short sword (seax). And I also made my first center-seam sheath which I really enjoyed.
The blade is 2.5" and the handle is 4" and made from redwood burl. It is a delightful little thing to hold.. and if I could afford to keep my own work, this is one I would carry.
I currently have a WIP going that will show you how this little guy came to be:

$245 shipped, paypal or check accepted.
I guarantee my work for life as long as it is used for it's intended purpose and will allow a full refund within a week of purchase as long as the blade is in the same condition it was sent in.
