Several heirloom pieces here. Any of you fine gentlemen know which leatherworkers are making sheaths for the recent ABM?

More from Bill duramax duramax

This is for the Team Gemini Ultra Light Brigade. Fantastic work on the tooling for this one and really liking the kydex reinforcement at the tip. I always considered the tip to be in need of reinforcement on leather, especially the thinner leather. Not sure it's entirely needed on this one with the weight of the leather Bill used but it definitely doesn't hurt having a bit of extra material there. I also really like how the edges are finished, has a bit of a rustic look to it like this.

...............shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh he does not need to hear that.....he thinks he is still "practicing" at the moment... ;)
Lemme guess....you're the generous friend that'll take his new work so graciously from him for a small fee. 😅😂

Jaxx Jaxx SpyderPhreak SpyderPhreak I've had the pleasure of meeting both Paul ( sheathmaker sheathmaker ) and Duane ( leatherman leatherman ). They both live pretty close by me. Both are not only great leather benders, but great men. Almost all of my sheaths have been made from Duane's scrap leather and using both of their techniques. I spent a few sessions working with Paul until shoulder surgery, followed by rheumatoid arthritis, sidelined my leather working. Jaxx Jaxx , you may have the only PL Busse sheath, but I have the only PL TOPS Tracker sheath 😆 Paul was shaking his head while working with that knife!

They have different styles, but both men are artists and gentlemen. I cannot convey how welcomed I was into their workshops and homes. I also learned, the hard way, that most leather goods are under priced. I sold a couple sheaths in the past and made about $1.50 an hour when all was said and done. It's a labor intensive art form. That said, I recommend everyone buy some scrap leather, and basic tools, and give it a go. You'd be amazed at what you can do with some practice!

Here's a thread I did about my first session with Paul. I hope its OK to post this here.
