Sheath design and function

I am at a loss for a sheath design on this knife.

I really didnt plan the knife shape,just the materials I am kind of stuck on the sheath design.Should I go with a pouch style or more of a mex loop style.
The blade is cable and the bolsters are wrought iron.If I go with the pouch style sheath it's gonna make for some wear marks right? Even with an open sheath the back side of the bolster is going to wear.

maybe the question should be how do you preserve the etched finish?

i dont think the leather would harm the etching. if i were you i would go for the pouch style. thats just my opinion.

If you go with a pouch sheath, don't put any leather dye on the inside where the bolsters will rub. The dye will harden the leather and make scratches more likely. You may also try putting some vaseline.

Pouch it is ! I really didnt want to pull that much more thread I guess could sew in a liner too.Thanks for the feedback fellas.
