Sheath for Ka BAR USMC Fighting Knife.

I bought an "official" Ka-Bar name-brand kydex sheath for my old beater last summer; it's not pretty but it works very well. I think I paid $20 for it on the Bay. I lashed a GI 1st-aid pouch to the front with cable ties, for a stone, firestarter, etc. Quite serviceable for cheap!

Here's my new Camillus one, big sucker!

The Last Confederate, I always liked the looks of the Camillus USMC version. I am retired ARMY so wearing a knife that yells USMC on the sheath would be a nonstarter. I bought the cheaper all black version at the PX. ...but yours look nicer! The standard KaBar USMC knife also looks good.

I sanded the sides of my handle a bit so it is slightly oval in my hand. I used the shoe dye we used to darken the soles on our Corcoran jump boots to blacken the handle after sanding. I also drilled a hole in the buttcap for a parachute shroud line (real 550 paracord) lanyard. I also used a two sided Norton stone to grind my clip point straight, rather than scalloped. This helps in sharpening on a stone - no angle.

I kept this knife in my "go" bag as a backup to my usual carry – a Randall 14 or a Mad Dog ATAK Hunter.
