Sheath ideas for the new ASH-1 ?????

You could try it yourself or..............I have seen lots of cardboard/duct tape posted around here.

Cardboard and duct tape for a SH?

Why don't ya just leave it in the bottom of the latrine?

A blade like that deserves, no demands a better sheath. Maybe a Leatherman or one from Chuck D.

Soap box off:D

Call me crazy... :foot: LOL ...But I was thinkin' maybe in addition to a more common leg sheath, maybe a leather Dundee rig for the SE ASH-1. Rowe's Leather or Armoralleather is who I'd go to for it. :D

Edited to add: Sorry, didn't catch the question, but don't make my own sheaths... LOL no good suggestion here. :o

Either would be excellent.

No ASH-1 should be left in cardboard. They're that special.

Check the various Busse-related sites out for links to many excellent sheath-makers. A few of the BF regulars are also pretty skilled -- ProGunner is one example (you ought to see his astounding leather FBM sheaths).

No need for soap boxes or anyone getting their feathers ruffled. His post asked for suggestions for a sheath "other than getting one made". My post was an attempt at humor but I must have missed the mark.
Other than having one made by any number of capable professional people (some of which are listed on the Busse combat website), you could make one yourself (many people do) or find a ballistic nylon with kydex insert factory pre made one that might fit. I am not sure what other options you really have or what sheaths made for other models would fit it. If it is a safe queen you could leave it as it comes I suppose.
I suspect that many of the "special knives" Jerry makes end up left in the very cardboard they came with. I have a LE FBM that I think is pretty special and it is still in exactly that form after being bought second hand.

No safe queens here. I like to get mine dirty :D I was hoping to be able to simply purchase one quickly to make things easy.

Unless someone has a suggestion, I guess I'll have to get one made.

Here is a sheath I made for my Blade '07 SH-SE (my first attempt at sheath-making). I posted some photos of it a while back, but here it is with a snap added to the strap. It is not pretty but it works, and it was relatively easy to make. I am planning to add two tube fasteners (Busse style if it goes as planned) to the bottom corners for lashing points.

For some reason an IWB flat kydex with belt stud seems to me to be right for the ASH-1 SE, given it's flatness. I think that I could IWB it for my surburban walks with no problems.

I would think a Spec-Ops would fit fine. It's pretty generic in fit.

But I may attempt a sheath on this one. Only b/c I don't think I can bear to send one of my Custom Shops to Dwayne to have it made. I might collapse from withdrawal or something. ;)

There was a pretty good sheath tutorial here not too long ago. Or even pix of some of the guys making theirs will give you about 80% of what you need. The secret is getting decent leather, some lacing, 2 needles, an awl and a drill press. (No sense in trying to push a hole in 1/2" or so of leather with an awl when a drill bit does 100x better work.)

Good luck no matter which way you go.

Getting a knife like a Busse and cutting corners on the sheath would be like buying a M5 BMW and cutting corners by going to the tire yard down the street for a good deal on used tires. :p Just doesn't make sense. There's plenty of good makers here....some are fast, some have soo many orders or are busy with other things they may take a while. Chuddy Bear is one fella who makes a top notch sheath for a very reasonable price in a VERY short amount of time! Dwayne Puckett is another such fella...there's a lot of options.

i still use the cardboard sleeve my skeleton warden showed up in as my edc rig! Only difference being I cut a bit off the end to get at the handle easier and reinforced the closed end with some doubled up cardboard to keep it from poking through! :D
