The chisel that I originally bought for sheath making has spacing that is too tight. It is 2mm. I'm looking to buy a set and the company has spacing available of 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, or 6mm. I'm leaning toward going with 4mm but am just curious what others use.

Thanks!

What is this chisel for? Hole punch for stitchings ?

I use a sharpened dinner fork.
Never gave it a thought, just grabbed what worked.
But just measured, its 3.25mm O/C.
Spacing should vary depending on leather thickness. I never use leather over 1.5mm, usually its 1mm

6 to 7 stitches to the inch gives a nice professional look. I know how to do the math, just not feeling it right now. 2.54 cm to the inch so ……..

Thanks all. I didn't realize there was a forum for sheaths. At 6-7 stitches/inch, that puts 4mm right in the middle between 3.63mm and 4.23mm.

Man oh man, I saw a set of stitching chisels on Instagram the other day out of Damasteel. I was good though and didn't even look too close cause I knew I would want them and I don't even hand sew anymore.
