Finished this the other day. Still pretty new to sheathmaking, but I'm learning with each new attempt.

Again, thanks to Chuck Burrows for a great instructional video.

I like that a lot. Very basic, but very clean as well.

For the sake of a new sheath maker, could you take a pic from the entry side of the sheath?
 
Dang....sorry man. I already gave it to the customer....

Any specific questions or anything about that area?
 
oh, and thank you for the kind words! You should see my hands after doing it.....not so clean...lol
 
Made a long thigh "drop" sheath for my roommate's Buck Vanguard back in college it wasn't nearly that nice. Comment, purely subjective I like to have the "tab" for the snap facing towards the back if possible mainly to keep it from getting caught and unsnapped when going through the woods. Word of advice I have taken to wearing nitrile or latex gloves when staining or using epoxy my hands stay much cleaner. I still get nicks and dings from cutting & stitching but but they aren't as dramatic as black hands:p
 
The customer had the same criticism. he was worried about the snap/strap getting undone and getting snagged. It's very secure though.

I'm new at this, so things like that will hopefully work out later. The sheath is sort of built around the old cordura one, but everything is leather and heavier duty. The strap is designed to mash down around the knife and catch the guard so it wont come out.

I'm doing all of my work out of my little apartment and all my staining in the sink....lol. I've recently found out by desperation (spilled a whole bottle in my sink! lol) that any kind of dishwasher liquid will take any spirit dye off anything. I'm assuming it's the bleach.
 
HallCustomSheaths - Thank you! I sold it for $50. I have no idea how to price these things. $50 seemed fair.

Emphasiski - I dyed the inside of the leather before I stitched it up. The edges are all trimmed with a little fine edging tool I got from tandy a few years ago. I run it along all the edges, and after everything is buttoned up. I usually rub some gum tragacanth into the edges and rough flesh side with my finger and then rub the hell out of it with a piece of scrap denim. The heat and friction burnishes that edge and gets rid of any ragged stuff. Sometimes I just leave it alone after I edge it, as I kinda like a rough/rugged look.

Don't use the gum trag before staining. It will resist the dye, and you'll get big tan streaks/spots where you wanted your black/brown etc. dye to go....ask me how I know...lol. :o
