Are the old-style sheaths with canvass inserts considered "desireable" or hard to find? I'm talking about the ones with the snap attached to some cord that goes around the handle of the knife before being snapped. I don't see these come up very often.

The only ones that I could think of that would be desirable over and above the standards would be the Eagle Industries sheaths. But not many at all out there, they're a bit expensive.

The Eagle sheaths are cool, but most of them were pretty knife specific.

They were really cool.......................for nylon :)

At least no cows were harmed when they were made, just eagles :D

Just kidding moodex bender :)

Are the ones I'm describing the Eagle Industries sheaths? They have no label on them at all.

You can check out survival sheath systems. I think they have something similar to what you're looking for.

Sorry to be unclear. I am not looking for one, but rather wondering what it is that I already have.

Finally, the long-awaited pics. If anyone can tell me which, if any, of the sheaths below are Eagle Industries sheaths, I'd greatly appreciate it. Conversely, if they are just generic sheaths, tell me that too. Thanks!

We had Rats sold with cordura pull-the-dot sheaths? The things that amaze me. Which models did these go to??? I thought they were pre-SwampRat.

BTW - all (all 2 of them) Busse PTD sheaths have an EAGLE-USA tag on the back.

None of these sheaths have the tag on the back or anywhere. I know they are older sheaths, and maybe back then, Eagle Ind. didn't have labels on the sheaths. That is kind of what makes me wonder--maybe Porkerson will chime in. I got these with some Howling Rats and they seem to fit perfectly. They are not like the leather sheaths that were used for the HRs and Coots.

These look like the generic ones that came with the BA III and Groove master & Public defenders,

The long one was for a Satin Jack.

Had a box full of them at one time.

Hope that helps.

Unless someone chimes in with a different take, I will take that advice and run with it. Thanks, David. BTW, any chance you're coming down for the gunshow next weekend??? If so, give me a shout and maybe we can meet there or get together or have a beer.

Make it a root beer and I may take you up on it.

I had planned on going to the Reptile show, maybe I can squeeze in the Gun Show as well.

Send me a e-mail maybe we can do a little trading too :)

I have one of those Nylon Pull-The-Dot sheaths for my Ratchet. Very cool sheath I must say...
