Sheath split!

Nasty - sounds like an interesting idea.

My problem with plain kydex sheaths is the rivets. I hate 'em. They make the sheath a good inch wider than it needs to be. They look cheap (factory made). And they scream "tactical" - nothing against that, but most khukuris don't scream "tactical" to me.....

So, I would want to stitch it (drill holes, then stitch or lace) to keep it clean and simple - always a plus for me. ;)

If that kind of things sounds cool to you, maybe I'll give it a shot after "the break".

Most folks have to have their rivets, though.....

Dan - I was thinking about a *pure fold-around* of heavy guage kydex...purely folded except for the folded over belt strap, which would have not more than 2 mostly hidden rivets (or stiched, whichever is easier). Know what I mean?

is this for a khukuri?

can't do a true pouch sheath for a khukuri because of the bend in the blade.

I have many skills- most of them undocumented. :( I am currently a QA guy, certified to do fluoroscopic inspections.

You could try Nondestructive Inspection Service. The address is listed as Hurricane, but it actually just about half a mile outside of St. Albans on Rt. 60. 304 562-6835

Actually Pen, that is a dream postponed. When I finish with school, I'll be going into teaching. Three guesses what my plans for summers off are? :D ;) (In between world travels with Peeps, of course.) :)

Sure you can Dan...you showed me how with the piece you added to the inside of the blade when you were figuring out the welt required. This just calls for additional material that won't be glued in place but rather removed after the fold.

As you told me...ya just gotta see it finished before you start! :D

MacH,

What school you going to? State College, Univ. of Charleston, or Marshall?

Don't know yet. Before I happily volunteered to pick up and pack off to Peep's place, I had been accepted to Northern Kentucky. I'll have to shop around a little, but I've already sent away for info from the ones you mentioned. :)
