I have been contemplating asking for a sheathmaking forum for some time now, and I feel the time is right for such a thing here on BF. I have seen threads get lost in the traffic here on BF from people asking for help repairing or making sheaths, I think its time for a separate sub forum her to address issues concerning sheaths and scabbards in an easy to find area.

What do yall think? I realize that there are other forums that have just such an area, but this is the biggest forum and has the most traffic of any of them! I think it needs this! If your a basic member just respond to this post and your voice will be heard! I would be happy to moderate as well, I am a full time maker and thus able to check it several times a day.

Dwayne,
I think it's an excellent idea! As you say, posts just drift off and with sheaths and sheath designs getting more and more attention (and rightfully so), a sheathmaking forum is highly called for!
Can't vote, but it would be YES in my case! :D

I am really looking forward to see how this leads!

All members are truly welcome. We've already gotten a few members!

Hey Guys....

Well Obviously I'm always interested in talking about sheaths.. I frequent several other Sheath forums as it is,, I would for sure be a major interest in one right here at BF.com...

So sure,, if thats something Sparky would be willing to do for us,, I would take part in it....

I recently got back into leather working and started doing sheaths. Would love to have a sheathing forum. :D

Oh yes a sheath making forum would be great. Heck I'd like it just so I could see all the great art work!

This is a forum I'd like to see as well.

I'm getting into leather sheath work, and so far, I'm doing ok at it.

leatherman, I suggest that you post this in the service and support forum, formally requesting Spark consider the sheath making forum. I will lend my support on this, but you need to make the request.

I also highly suggest that if you aren't already a Gold, or Knifemaker member, that you consider upgrading, and help support the forums. This place does cost money, and adding a forum to the list costs as well.

Perhaps it could be in the knifemaker section. There's already too many forums and subforums to go through...

but then, I'm not running the show so be glad... :p

Hi Code3, thanks for the ideas, I will get to that forum asap. Yep, I am a gold member and have been so nearly two years, its a very small price to pay for a lot of extra ammenities.

There is some great tallent here and it would be great to have a place to showcase it.

I love the idea. We have some great sheath makers that hang around this forum and I would be willing to bet that a lot could be learned from them.

I was thinking the same thing before I reached your post.To many sub-forums are annoying and counterproductive.Sheath making and knifemaking belong in the same forum.

I would love a sheath making forum. I have done a little, enough to know I have lots to learn and that I enjoy doing it.

Thanks for sounding off on this guys! :D Its nice to see all viewpoints on this, positive, negative, and indifferent. Its helps me to see if this is worth fighting for! Keep em coming guys! Thanks very much! :)

I see the viewpoint that it is in conjunction with the knifemakers, but I also see a separation there as well, I do very little work with custom knifemakers, and a lot more with mid tech and production knives in the aftermarket. Most owners of production knives that want sheath work arent going to search in the custom makers forum, and they get lost in the general discussion. Just my 2 cents, heh heh

I put in my vote.....

YES!

A sheathmaking forum would be great!

I'd love to see more threads on the subject. Leather, kydex or both. ;)

Whaddya say, Kevin?

We'll need some more backing on this one....spread the word, guys.
