I jsut received my sheath and knife back from Dave today and to say I am happy would be a definate understatement. The work is simply outstanding. I had Dave make me a sheath for my large Classic Sebenza. This Sebbie has the leather inlays that are a dark brown. Dave was able to match the leather sheath to the leather inlays and that is really, really:cool:  This sheath is put together to ride horizontally and has an upward cant that just puts the knife at my fingers perfectly. I also had Dave do the "flap and snap" thing on this one. The finish is as smooth as any leather work I've seen. Along with the edges being finished, every stitch is perfectly placed and are also brown to match the leather. The molding of the leather to the knifes shape was done with care to ensure a perfect fit, and it is! My knife just slips in and glides out.

To say it again, I am just floored by the work perfomed here. I had been thinking about a CRK sheath from CRK and have had one in the past. It just can't match up to what Dave has created.

Lifter, hope you don't mind be tooting your horn here.........you just did such a fantastic job that I had no other recourse!!:D :D

btw, I can't post pics but there are some in the "Gallery" section.

maybe someone can post some here.

I've seen some of Daves' sheaths. They are pretty darn good. I have a feeling that if he keeps it up one of these days he is going to be damn good.

WAY TO GO Dave! You can not ask for a better recomendation than that and you obviously earned it. Artsig1 that was a fine review, you covered all the bases. Proud of you both!

Thank you very much Art, I'm really pleased you like it and I hope you enjoy it for a long time. Thank you too Keith and Ed for the kind words. This is unbelievable, me getting compliments from Ed Fowler, my favorite maker and knife writer, I should come back down to earth sometime later today :D
While I am trying to develop my own style, anyone who sees one of my sheaths can see the Gary Graley influence. His work has been my inspiration and he has also graciously answered any and all questions I've had. Hopefully in the future my work will approach the level of excellence he has acheived.

I enjoy your articles in Blade Ed. Thanks for the kind words!

I was indeed remiss for not mentioning Gary Graley as I had intended too. I had Gary make me a sheath last year for a Sebbie that was simply outstanding. I am happy to see G2 back in buisness!:D

Lifter you have apparently listened to your teacher as your work shows it. The way you've molded the top piece of leather on this sheath makes it look like it just grew out of the leather that way! Truly OUTSTANDING!

I have some other sheaths in mind so I will be emailing you soon about doing them. Thinking about a slanted sheath for my Cuda MAXX in black leather.........................a lot of black leather!  :D

Boy...if I could only get my kids to listen as well as you have! :D

Nice Dave, very nice, keep up the excellent work and keep those stitches tight!

Dave is a heck of guy and undoubtedly a fine sheath maker. And the fact that G2 is so gracious
just makes this knife hobby better. One couldn't ask for better friends.

Dave when is Ed going to build a folder and need a sheath?

Man, I had no idea that you were making sheaths! It's good to hear that you're having a positive influence on our collective (pun) hobby, and it sounds like you're in with some good company here too!

I have some nice knives that are just sitting around the safe looking for a good leather sheath (Kydex too for the camp knives), so when you get a chance, shoot me a brief email to let me know what your material and blade type (folder vs. fixed) preferences are, and I'll see if I can't shoot a little business your way.

Outstanding Dave, way to go there buddy!

p.s. Had a chance to spend a little time in Hollister, CA. this weekend for the 'Independence Rally'... http://www.hollisterrally.com/hirc2nd.htm

What a hoot! 'Hog Heaven' if you will... ;)

I just got two sheaths back from Lifter and they are great. I really cannot add anything more about them than what Art said, but I did take a picture of them. Both sheaths are made to fit a Classic 2000 Sebenza. Thanks Dave!

Good on ya Dave!!! Now I know where to turn next time I need a sheath. I am gonna move this to GB+U since this is obviously an endorsement, albeit a well deserved one.
Dave

Dave made this up for me a couple month's ago. It's not as pretty now, because I use it regularly! :D

You won't go wrong. I'd say it's DAMN nice! :p

with hands like a surgeon!!! Dave your work is simply outstanding. With a teacher like Gary I would not have expected any less than perfection from you and I gotta say your sheaths are gorgeous.
