Sheaths for Bushcrafts

Martin...as long as nobody else minds...it's ok with me to make connections here. I have made the offer to others too.

Just keep actual sales in the Exchange.

on any blades except as-forged O1, the scratches should be minimal.

The final thing I do to the flats before glue-up is to put them up to a scotchbrite belt (which does exactly what you can imagine rubbing a scotchbrite pad across a blade would do). It blends scratches longitudinally (from butt to tip). So, putting it in/out of a kydex sheath (or liner) shouldn't really show scratches much, if at all.

The only problem would be if you got some grit in there and didn't clean it out...then it might leave some scratches or marks.

Yeah I have several kydex sheaths but only use them on a sporadic basis because I end up with like a quarter sized scratched area in the middle of the blade. Not sure how the 3V compares to VG10 but my kydes scratches the VG10 pretty good.

I'm really digging those sheaths, they look great. You found a way to make things actually more simple and lightweight with a combo, rather than more complex. Best of both worlds in most senses.

Very worthwhile endeavor.

Thanks guys

The Kydex will scratch the blade indeed, so I reccomend it for users only. It's the price for a rattlefree snug fit.
If the kydex is replaced with a leather liner like the NL-4 in my blog it'll make a difference for sure, scratchwise.

I found that Dan's as forged flats do a great job in camouflaging these scratches. You should see my Fällknivens with their soft 420 outers :D..

Cheers,

Just wanted to add my .02 cents. I just received the sheath I ordered from Martin last week. It looks good in the pictures but looks better in person. Workmanship in my opinion is superb and it enhances the look of the knife. Now all I have to do is strap it on my belt and go and play in the woods.

Thanks Martin for a great sheath

Martin,

Awesome work. I can see a lower ride as others have said. I'd love to get my hands on some of your sheaths.
