It has come to my attention that some leather sheaths sold at Blade are failing and causing issues.

I need to make it clear that I didnt make the sheaths and I dont endorse them in any form or fashion.

I use only top grade leather and the best thread available for my production sheaths, and I stand by them 100%.

From now on out even my pouch sheaths will be marked with my DKP logo. The one I used back in the day when I didnt have a stamp. Hopefully this will help to differentiate my sheaths from those other makers. I am having a small stamp made for those sheaths that dont have the room for a large makers mark.

To make things right, I will offer a discount toward a sheath of my making in order to offset the cost lost to those who got a bad one. Its my way of giving back to the community that supported me through the years. I dont want anyone to think they are getting my product and getting disappointed when it doesnt live up to my name. Yes, I feel that strongly about this.

Please e-mail or PM me about this if you have an issue with a Blade '09 sheath. I will help in any way I can.

Thanks!!!! :D:D:D

Uhhhhh, yeah. I got one of them there sheaths!

Where's muh discount?!?

:D ;)

Why wouldnt the people with the bad sheaths take it up with the actual maker of the sheaths if there are problems? I think I must be missing something.

Why are you offering discounts... if you did not make the sheaths. Did your wife make them?

That's just Dwayne... He's one of the best.

I'm guessing he's getting emails because they must look like sheath he's made in the past and people didn't know who made them.

I know many at Blade where buying the ones from Green River sheaths.I have no idea if it is the same ones or not but the one I got from them was very nice.

Now why would you say something like this? I am positive if it were a sheath(s) that Dwayne's wife made, he would stand by them as well, as they are/would be the same company. Dwayne is going far beyond what he needs to in order to keep the leather sheath industry looking good. :D

I got 10 of em straight from the table. I like em alot, and they were a great deal brought by the crew:confused:

Actually, I realized when I got home that I had the exact same sheath at home that came originally from a guy that had bought it from Busse with an ABA LE:) So, I guess they've been in a corner somewhere from that same time period:confused:

I thought they were Dwaynes too but was told that they werent. These are easy to distinguish they have a grommet or metal stud on the back holding down the basckside of the beltloop.

They fit BAIII's and the HG55 real nice:thumbup:

How are the sheaths malfunctioning? I read on the swamp board that some Vex's were rusting in their pouch sheaths, also a Blade offering. Is this part of the same issue?

Thanks KH, yea, that sums it up very well. I have been getting calls and e-mails from people wanting to know why my sheaths from Blade are either coming apart or causing their blades to rust. The grommet is a good indicator, but I have seen some that have a sewn loop as well. And thats one of the stress points that are failing.

Thing is I didnt do any sheaths for Blade.

I am not here to condemn whoever made them, thats not my concern. But those you hear from are the minority of those who are actually displeased so it becomes my concern. Those pouches are not too awful difficult to make anyhow, so its no skin off my back to help out those people who have no idea where to go to fix it.

Gerberblades, its not worth answering your comment, that was pretty low.

Why haven't we heard of any of these failures? I picked up one of these sheaths at BLADE and have had no problems with it.

No offense leatherman, but you seem to be like a magnet for drama, dude.

What the heck is wrong with people? Dwayne tries to make a nice gesture to help out some folks in the Busse community, and he's having to deal with slights in this thread?

I'm with you, I guess some people don't know what a good guy is anymore................................

.

I know you want to protect your rep... as your sheaths are as good as any made!!!

I simple thread stating "I did not make any of the sheaths sold at the Busse group booths at the Blade show. If you have any questions about these sheaths please contact me as I will help you any way I can", would have got the point across fine without dissing something sold at there booth.
JMHO, not trying to offend Dwayne....or anyone else.

Every sheath I have from Dwayne could withstand anything thrown at it and then some.
He's a great craftsman and a good guy to be offering to fix some other makers error.
Keep up the good work Dwayne!

you're hearing about the failures now. where/how would you have expected to find out? if i had purchased a sheath and it broke, i certainly wouldn't start a thread about it unless i saw no alternative.

prior to this, any complaints should have been directed at the maker or seller.

the sheaths did not come from his shop, so any drama attached has nothing to do with dwayne.

I want to get this straight. Were the defective sheathes purchased at the Busse booth?

I grabbed a handful of the Green River sheaths and have worn one several times without any problem. It's a very simple sheath but it is well made.

I think that it is great that Dwayne is willing to help out so let him do his thing.
