Sheaths from Blade '09

Listen, I didn't mean it the way you read it.

I meant, did you or your wife/ friend, whoever make the sheath use your stamp and now they are not working properly. I do not know who made the sheaths and the only reason I said that was because I assumed someone you knew made them because you were standing behind the work.

NO disrespect was intended, and sorry if any was taken.

Why haven't we heard of any of these failures? I picked up one of these sheaths at BLADE and have had no problems with it.

Maybe you're not, but Dwayne is. I guess he wants to set the record straight and help out at the same time.

I have been getting calls and e-mails from people wanting to know why my sheaths from Blade are either coming apart or causing their blades to rust.

thats how i read it as well. he's not so much standing behind the other makers work as he is trying to help out those who don't know who else to turn to.

not a big deal, though. im sure we can all get past it.

im sure dwayne would not distance himself from something coming from his shop with his logo regardless of whether stacey, his brother, or his dog did the stitching.

Glad I could clear it up.

I have owned a few sheaths from Dwayne and they are all VERY nice.

All I wanted to know I guess, did someone else make the sheaths in his shop, and they slipped into the mix, or were they fakes.

The only confusion was why was he covering them, but I understand his reasoning now.

I know you want to protect your rep... as your sheaths are as good as any made!!!

I simple thread stating "I did not make any of the sheaths sold at the Busse group booths at the Blade show. If you have any questions about these sheaths please contact me as I will help you any way I can", would have got the point across fine without dissing something sold at there booth.
JMHO, not trying to offend Dwayne....or anyone else.

This is pretty much exactly what I was trying to say, only stated much more eloquently. I'm also not trying to diss anyone, but the original post came across as trashing a competitor, even if that's not the way it was intended - it would have been easy to word things like Ken suggested and remove any ambiguity.

The drama here is in the way this issue was brought to the attention of the forum, which kinda rubs me the wrong way - I'm sorry if others don't see it that way, and think I'm just an idiotic upstart young wannabe (I pretty much fit that description), but I'm just trying to be honest and say I wasn't a fan of the way this was brought up.

I'm sure Dwayne is a great guy, and by all accounts his sheaths are top-notch, but I have seen several instances on the forums now where I thought things weren't handled very well. Just my humble opinion, as an upstart wannabe. Not trying to trash anyone, and no offense intended to anyone here.

not a big deal, really.

but many of us know dwayne not only from the forums but many many purchases. so we often are able to see his motives when others unfamiliar with his personality may not.

Good point - I can only imagine what some folks would think if they looked at the interactions of MY family from the outside.:foot:

Guess I shouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens with the HOG family.

I don't blame Dwayne for making it crystal clear that the sheaths aren't his. If they are similar looking enough that he's getting multiple complaint calls, then I'm sure he felt the need to publicly distance himself from these sheaths. At no point did he diss the other maker. He just pointed out, in no uncertain terms, that his sheaths would not fall apart in this fashion.

I'm not just a spokesperson for Armoralleather. I'm also a user. :p Dwayne's sheath's are bombproof.

I don't think they were the Green Rivers. The one I got from them was very well made.
I just got the word that Leatherman is cutting the sheath for my SFNO LE,can't wait,it should look something like the one at the bottom center of the pic above.Just got one for a SAR 4 from the store and it is a very heavy duty sheath,Leatherman makes some bullet proof sheaths.

VERY nice!!!

I got 10 of em straight from the table. I like em alot, and they were a great deal brought by the crew:confused:

Actually, I realized when I got home that I had the exact same sheath at home that came originally from a guy that had bought it from Busse with an ABA LE:) So, I guess they've been in a corner somewhere from that same time period:confused:

I thought they were Dwaynes too but was told that they werent. These are easy to distinguish they have a grommet or metal stud on the back holding down the basckside of the beltloop.

They fit BAIII's and the HG55 real nice:thumbup:

I am not quite sure why you are rolling your eyes at my post?

I am still not sure but I take it that the Busse crew? sold some sheaths at blade that have either had problems with the loop staying attached or they are causing blades to rust and or both.

Some people assumed that Dwayne made them and have been contacting him. Dwayne is taking it upon himself to give anyone that bought one of the sheaths credit towards the purchase of one of his sheaths.

I guess I still do not understand why the maker of the sheaths should not be accountable for these sheaths? Someone at Busse must know who made them.

Dont get me wrong, I think it is great of Dwayne to do this for those that have unusable sheaths, I just dont think he should be bearing the burden for another sheath maker.

There were sheaths being sold at the Busse booth???:confused:

...Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffin' glue!! :o:o

Just erased about a half a page about thread wording and meaning behind certain words:p

I better just:foot: instead.

Uh-huh...Were you gettin' ready to make fun of my glue habit??? :grumpy::grumpy:
...'Cause NOBODY, and when I say nobody, I mean everybody gets to make fun of my glue habit!!! :grumpy:;);):D:D:D

No disrespect at all intended to the maker of those sheaths in queston, and I know they are not Green River products. Green River puts out a very fine sheath.

My intent was to get in touch with as many people as I could as I am concerned about people getting the wrong idea. I've fixed and restitched so many of those original sheaths it made my eyes cross, but worth it, and no I didnt charge a penny.

Sorry if my original post was taken wrong, I'm just trying to help the community. The best of intentions an all. :o

I have never, and will never bash another craftsman's work its not in my nature to do so. Heck, I even compliment those plastic huffer's work.

Some of the responses here have affirmed my decision to keep off the boards for a while. I just came in to offer a little help. Thanks to those for having my back here, I really appreciate it.

this drama queen is outta here, see y'all in the Swamp. :)
