Shed Hunting....w/PICS

Yeah, thanks for the stats norcalblacktail. It is so hard to explain this to people who don't live here.
Oh and don't forget the Sequoias(the largest).

Good to know about the public land hunting. I'm from Texas, where my family has land that we hunt (There is surprisingly little public land in Texas). However, I have been stuck up here in CT as a postdoc for the past 2 years (I hunted NY where I have a friend with private land access). I'm starting my drive to CA on Monday morning to start a "real job"- make that a career- but haven't really had time to do any research on places to hunt.

Where about in CA are you moving to? Let me know when your settled in and Ill help you out with some good places to hunt.

San Francisco. Start work on March 24. Hopefully I will have a few weekends free once the dust settles.

You must have a good eye. I am always looking but never find any.

Some one should have told that one on the left the he is only supposed to shed his antlers not his whole head!

San Francisco... Eeeewwww! J/K kind of.

I love S.F. but I'd hate to live there. The bay area is the best place to live though, even if it is S.F., if you are going to be in CA, then again maybe I'm just biased. :D

As norcal already offered, feel free to hit me up, if you have any questions about the area.

Here's the ones my wife found. 4 incl 1 matched pair.

In my field, you go where the jobs are, and Biotech is in SF. I'm looking forward to it, but we won't be living in SF, but comuting from somewhere. The company is in Menlo Park. I've enjoyed my 2 visits to SF and one to San Diego. I'm also looking foward to chasing after some blacktails and elk. I've got a bow and several firearms yearning for a bit of lovin'.

Menlo Park is near my neck of the woods. Shoot me an email HLEE.

I haven't had much luck hunting drops this year, over here in the East. I've only been out once, but didn't have any luck.
Of course, lucky would be finding something off our resident meese*.

*Meese: Plural of Moose. Think goose (geese). :D

Aw come on I know how you east coast boys count your points. These would all be either 6 point or 8 point deer to whitetail hunters. Here in the West these are all called forks and 3x3s.

This is a spike buck....

Nice chuckle there Norcal, I know you guys have nice blackies i've hunted them in the past in N'AZ. Yeah, we do things different here on the RightCoast:D

I saw a legit ten point outside my window last year, walked out stood 20ft from it and snapped a digital picture. problem was my hands were shaking so much that the image is/was a bit blurry, so I think I deleted it off my camera card.

3days ago I was taking a walk up a dirt side road that's only used by locals in the early morning light, like 0500dark....lo and behold not 100yds down the road standing right there in the middle is a WHITE BUCK:eek: No camera, no rifle, nothing but a jerkit for me on that one:o I knew it was around because I THOUGHT I saw it last year, but then I dismissed it as bad light. Not this time, it's a legit white phase whitetail. I told a bunch of folks that I had seen it and of course I 'saw it' miles from where I actually did, you know, East coast hunter speak for 'it's over there':D

Nice sheds, and pics...
