That would be quite intersting and I'm sure a lot would love to see that thread!

Gorgeous blade. My quick question for you is, do you lightly etch your damascus billets before making a blade to determine the best position to get the best pattern how you like it on the blade faces, or do you make the billet with a certain pattern and then make the blade and "see what comes out" ?

I do it both ways. I dip the ground off bar to see if the pattern is good enough to make a blade. I like both sides to be the same pattern. On a twist pattern It is mostly stock removal otherwise the tip will unwind and the sides will flatten out with forged to shape blades. I really like the looks of a good old forged to shape random pattern blade.

OK Ive downloaded the first group of shots to my hard drive and resized them for the thread. Being dumb as dirt on this computer its easier to make a knife than post pictures but even old dogs like me slowly learn. Keep your eyes open for the new thread.
