Sheeple Friendly EDC/Backpacking knife

Is there any reason why the Delica would be better for me than the Native? the native has a bigger blade, and smaller footprint.
You need to hold the Native before you buy (if possible).
I find the Native to be very uncomfortable compared to the Delica.
And while the Native has a slightly bigger blade, the cutting edges of the two knives are nearly the same....due to the choil on the Native.

However....the Native III has one of the most comfortable handles I have ever held!

Case Sodbuster Jr coupled with a A.G.Russel Woodswalker is one suggestion I know some actually use.

I like the Case Barehead Slimline Trapper, yellow handles with CV blades personally for a EDC/ Hiking/ Camping knife , which I have used for decades.

I believe in having back ups, or redundancy.
I also believe in carrying both a folding and a fixed.

DL Knives Small Skinner is a great all around knife, that would be super for backpacking , and if your jurisdiction would allow , for EDC as well.

Heck a Old Hickory 3 1/2" paring knife in a cardboard sheath, or one made from a plastic milk container is a proven EDC, hiking, fishing, hunting, camping knife too.

Grandma's kitchen knife ...if you will....

I'm a big fan of the slimline trapper as well:thumbup:
I have one in CV in red-bone, however I also have a barehead in stainless for around the house. For hiking the CV version is a great compliment to a small fixed blade. I carry mine with a Charles May Slitter.

For real backpacking you'll want a Swiss Army Knife / multi tool. If in addition, you also want to carry a more durable single blade folder (I always do), then I would recommend the Spyderco Endura, partially serrated blade of VG-10 or ZDP-189 steel. The Delica also comes in either steel, but I find the shorter blade length is sometimes lacking for food prep.
I also prefer the slightly longer handle of the Endura, and find the small amount of extra weight to be inconsequential.
Both knives are very durable and carry almost unnoticed, clipped into a jeans front pocket. They're both excellent knives. I just prefer the Endura.

Got a delica the other day. Like it alot. feels very good in the pocket. I did briefly try an endura, but the blade felt odd to me. like it was to far from where my hands rested on the handle. Also wasn't sure about knife laws in Vancouver (well gvrd) So i figured I'd get the one under 3 inches just to be safe.

Rather sheeple friendly too because of its odd looks.

as far as food prep goes I thought i would get a diffrent fixed blade knife to be used as chopping, and use the delica for paring related stuff. because more knifes are fun.

You did good.

Yes, knives are fun.

I like them very much . . . they're shiny!

PS. remember: If you're packing into grizzly bear country, go with someone that you know you can outrun. :D
