It was just too nice to stay at home today. I turned the oven down to 300F and let that ham just bake. Just a little drive across the island to the nature trails.

But I had to dodge locals in golf carts on the main trail. Leaving their trail of litter, it must be near Spring, because the A-holes are in full bloom. I was going to compare hiking blades. Sure, I can tuck a bowie into my pants, but it gets uncomfortable after a while. The campsite was surprisingly empty when I got there. I guessed the golf cart NASCAR brigade had already passed through. So I took out my gear. But before long, more carts were going by.

Just not a good day to do a knife review here. But it was a great day to walk.
I decided to just walk some more and do my review at home. I actually did see some hikers on the trail, but they were old folks like me. I got back to the jeep and headed home.

Im not old but definately to the point i have given up being worried about sheeple. Luckily the states i frequent are pretty lax on gun and knife laws. Nice keltec btw. I hve the LCP and love it!

I got home and pulled out my little hiking blades.

Of course, the folders are the easiest for concealed carry. The Victorinox One Hand Trekker is probably the most useful of the lot. It even has a functional wood saw. And the ZT0350St is about as good a slicer as the ESEE-3. But the 3 rides high on my belt, covered by my vest. The little Izula II can go in a pocket or a pouch. And it can slice and even do some light baton work for splitting wood like the 3. Just don't go too big.

I think my new combo for public trails will be the Izula II and the OHT. Sheeple friendly, but capable of some actual work should the need arise.

They can get you killed with their stupidity. Once the cowboy cops have been called, you never know what you might be facing, legal or not. Best not to let them see anything that frightens them. We have had a few fatal shootings of ordinary citizens here last year because nosey idiots needlessly called the police.

I've been looking at that ZT350 pretty hard today. Your post is not making it easier to resist. Thanks for taking me along for the ride, yesterday was play day, today is "make sheaths day", so, I didn't get out.

At least I got to see some great pics.

Thanks for showing off that 350, HD.

We have open carry laws for a reason in Az. I carry all my guns concealed In town. Backcountry i open carry. Knives i could care less. Its unfortunate you have problems like that in your area. Out here i have never had a single problem even with the hippies in Tucson and Flagstaff.

I think it has become my new EDC for now. It opens fast and carries well. Much more pocket friendly than the bigger 0300.

OMG! The ham is cooked to death! Nobody else is home yet for Sunday dinner anyway.

Pulled the bones right out of it. Stringy and tasty, though. All that juice in the bottom of the broiler pan is great for seasoning the butter beans.

Oh I am totally legal. Out in the swamps and such, it's no problem. But in this little park that I often walk in, we have campers from all over. They're afraid of everything. I was using my RC-6 one day, and a bicyclist snuck up on me, when he saw me with the knife, he turned around and raced off. Last year we had a home owner and a waitress shot to death by local police for NOTHING. All because some busybodies called the police on them because they thought these people were doing something wrong. One had a business sign in his yard that a neighbor didn't like and one was thought to be doing drugs in the parking lot where she worked . Turned out she wasn't, but she panicked and ran. And the homeowner got pissed and things escalated out of control. Both are dead now.

Nice pictures, Horn Dog!

Obviously, you're liking the Izula-II. I have scales on order for my Izula but I'm still thinking about the Iz-2.

There's a first time for everything, Doc. I have never liked any other small fixed blades much. I like it a lot. It has handles! :D

Thats what i figured. I work EMS and 99% of issues are when people get pushy with the cops when it is unnecessary. Awesome jeep btw, except for the minivan engine :p. Still waiting for them to do a diesel wrangler but prolly never here in the U.S.

Yep, I think Vic is going to help sell some 350's....I keep thinking "350 or manix 2?"

Yeah, I liked my old in line 4.0L better. You'd think they would have put something more truck-like under the hood. A diesel would be great. But this jeep rides well and I really can't complain so far. It's a 2007. A lot roomier than the old ones. And it goes off road pretty well.

As for the pushy stuff, yeah, dare to be stupid. I never give police any grief. They never know what the situation will be when they get there. Most are well disciplined and have good judgement. But we always have a few cowboys. So when irate or unstable citizens and poorly trained officers arrive at the same time and place....anything can happen and it is usually ugly.

If hiking, among a few SAKs, an ESEE-4 in the pack, some type of Emerson in my pocket and an E-6 at my side.

I've always been partial to having some type of SAK with me. They are adequate for several tasks. Lately it's been a Stayglow Climber, or Pioneer Rancher, even a Farmer. Even an Izula in my back pocket.

I find sheeple are more receptive to anything with blaze orange no matter the size. Like an Orange Millie.

Other knives are carried for other applications and I don't have a problem pulling out something like a CQC-11 when needed even in the city.

I don't pay much attention to sheep's concerns either way. :)

I'm just trying to present a kinder, gentler horn dog image. I'm getting too old to be a real bad ass without a shotgun anyway.

Sheeple is a bigots term, in all honesty. Not saying everyone or anyone who uses it is a bigot, but it's really a terrible term.

Someone never exposed to guns, for instance, has every reason to be skidish around them.

Anywho my ESEE 4 with the Midnight tiger handles tip up on my pack didn't catch any looks on a quick trip up a very tourist area, path was paved and all.

Not a bigots term at all. It is more deeply rooted in politics than most people know. It is a reference to those who fall in line with authority and blindly do what they are told with little or no education. But i dont hate sheeple, i just tend to ignore them lol.
