Not a bigots term at all. It is more deeply rooted in politics than most people know. It is a reference to those who fall in line with authority and blindly do what they are told with little or no education. But i dont hate sheeple, i just tend to ignore them lol.

The political undertones are clear, but that's not a discussion for theis forum.

It just dehumanizes those who are fearful of gear out of shear ingnorance.

I can't tell you how to interpret a term, but to me I get that tone.

It's supremisist in a way, and sociopathic in a small way.

Sheeple is a bigots term, in all honesty. Not saying everyone or anyone who uses it is a bigot, but it's really a terrible term.

Someone never exposed to guns, for instance, has every reason to be skidish around them.

Anywho my ESEE 4 with the Midnight tiger handles tip up on my pack didn't catch any looks on a quick trip up a very tourist area, path was paved and all.

I like it. It's sounds better than yuppie elitist a**hole.

awesome pics, hd. i really like my one-hand trekker as well. in the summer, i probably use it just as much as my esee-4 out in the woods. the tiny saw cuts surprisingly well.

And SAKs are quite socially acceptable to most people as well. There are those who find military-looking gear scary. They have been taught in the public schools and colleges that some tools and weapons are evil. Remember the "Assault Weapon" hysteria? I am not one of those people, obviously, but I live in the same world they do and try to be at least a little sensitive to their concerns. The irony is that the OHT is a Swiss Army Knife! They are very useful. But I'm keeping my sun hat (boonie)! :D

there's just better more specific terms, like the ones you mentioned. Sheeple is just too broad for my tastes.

I don't see how you can't be elitest when you use terms like sheeple, or hick, etc. You're making yourself better than them in a all encompassing way.

not everyone afraid or intolerant of knives is such for the same reason.

I really don't give a flying flip about your tastes Funkhead.

That just made me laugh so hard. But hey, thats what elitists do! :p I for one will continue to use sheeple. If the term offends you, then dont read the post. Simple fix. I for one as long as i am not on the clock, am done patting people on the back so they feel better due to ignorance or whatever else their malfunction is.

Gee, just a simple little post about sheeple friendly knives and somebody wants to make a big deal about the word sheeple. Go to Wikipedia. It's part of the language. Deal with it. I am closing this little thing now before I get really ticked. I can hardly believe we have folks like this on a knife forum. I guess trolls are everywhere. Here is my favorite take on the term from Wikipedia:

The term is also used for those who are deemed inordinately tolerant, or welcoming, of government intrusion and regulation. In a column entitled "A Nation of Sheeple," columnist Walter E. Williams writes, "Americans sheepishly accepted all sorts of Transportation Security Administration nonsense. In the name of security, we've allowed fingernail clippers, eyeglass screwdrivers and toy soldiers to be taken from us prior to boarding a plane."[4] This usage emphasizes that Americans sheepishly accept all sorts of imposed official nonsense. It describes those who blindly submit to the judgment of public servants or political parties as leading authorities, thereby empowering the civil government through their acquiescence.
