Ix-nay on one hand openers and knives with clips.,

Old stock tonneau in ivoirine. ;) There's a simpler model.

Edit : in fact it is still produced.

Do you have a link for these? I can't find a page with more than a few models.

Thanks. Ray

I would get him the same kind as he has. And I personally would like that 4-blade piece Jolipapa it up myself! I was already looking at some Antonini cable and gardening knives tonight, and this meshes perfectly.
Thanks, Neal

Rough Rider half hawk. Cheap and well made has a Sheepsfoot main blade and small pen blade.

There 's at least twiceas much with different handles - all carbon-
What does "Tire droit" (straight pull?) mean in knives? I thought maybe it referred to the corkscrew, but I see one without a corkscrew there.
[and I see that corkscrew is tire-bouchon anyway, so no clue]

You guessed right Tiré-droit means litteraly pulled straight, like a solid line. It is very similar to the Tonneau except the bolsters are not equals and it lacks the barrel shaped handles. It is also slightly tapered. It does not necessarily have a corkscrew.
Like the Tonneau and the Gouttière (gutter), it derives of the Langres (from the city where it originates).

PS usually Tonneau and tiré-droit are 9,5cm, Langres & Gouttière 11cm.

Thank you. Those are some beautiful knives.
If I ever win the lottery, the French cutlers will certainly hear about it.

Beautiful knives JP, but I really like the lines of the Langres  I'm way overdue a trip to France ;)

These patterns are quite neglected and there are not too many cutlers making them. Personally I dig the gouttière, but could not bite the bullet because imho the ugly peasant's face on Gilles Reyneweater's Issard Grand'Père series spoils it.
Btw, if your steps take you around here, don't forget to ring :)

Jolipapa-what do I type in to find that page? I'm sorry my French is abysmal, preceded only by English, my native tongue:D
Thanks, Neal
Post script-the knife(ves) in post #14 and #16?

I used to visit France several times each year JP, but these past few years I've not felt like travelling much. I'm sure I'll get the bug again :)

JP I need to look into one of those Langres , just the job:cool: Do you think they come in horn too?

Thanks, Will

I like Kershaw's Coral Creek, it's a good work knife I think. A.Wright & Sons of Sheffield do a nice Sheepsfoot in rosewood and carbon steel for around the same price. GEC's Hayn Helper Sheepsfoot is a bit pricier, but good value

Better still, get a Lambsfoot! :D :) ;)

What is the quality like on those A.Wright knives? They're dirt cheap.

And I wonder what the total would be with shipping etc. Really would like to join the Order of theLambsfoot. Perhaps we could speak offline, about the possibility of a group order. Didn't someone, GEC maybe, do a stockman with a sheepfoot main? Or maybe it was RR. Lotta models.
Thanks, Neal
Ps-group order could=forum knife 2017 :D
