This is a Sheffield Exhibition 2 blades quill knife which was made by Joseph Rodgers in 19th century.
The handle length is about 3 inches.
The blades are a spearpoint and a coping pattern.
Both blades stop in half position, and are fileworked with herringbone patterns on the spines(great filework !).
There are "V crown R" and "HER MAJESTY" stamps in the ricasso, and it shows that the knife was made in Victorian age by special order.
Great Exhibition quill knife.
Blades are still in mirror finish, but there are some rust spot and scratch.(Perhaps previous owner rubbed too strong especially in coping blade...but still in near mint condition as its age.)
Handles are certain carat gold and was hand engraved both sides.
It shows the engraving skill in Victorian age.
Interior backspring is also fileworked.
Superior quality and condition quill knife in the original, unmarked, black Morocco leather box with fitted interior.
I think that it is the rare example of Exhibition class quill knife.
In this small knife, there are full of skills in Victorian age.
It is a Golden knife in Golden age.
I would like to sell it for US$3,500.00. > US$3,000.00.> US$2,500.00.> (final reduction) US$2,100.00.
Buyer would pay the shipping charge.
I send it by EMS(International Mail Service by Japan Post with tracking service).
Shipping cost to U.S.A. is US$15.00, and insurance will be additional cost.
Thank you very much for your looking !
