Bladeforumopithecus1-I like what you've done with the man cave Dunc.(sips from large glass of brandy)
Bladeforumopithecus2-(puffs suavely on pipe) Yeerss. Its amazing what you can do with a simple frame and some old knife labels.
Bladeforumopithecus3-(raises a thoughtful eyebrow, dusts a piece of undevoured leopard meat from hairy arm and swirls brandy glass in a sophisticated knowledgeable manner) Hmmm,Hmmm I agree.Gently provocative.Modern and yet somehow ancient.Retro if you will? Pass the cheese platter would you?
All- (gazing knowingly at installation and emitting understated chuckles into backs of hairy paws) Mmmmm.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments, I find these labels fantastic, I only just spied Sarahs great work ( as per usual ) of posting up Charlies Jack of Diamonds label - to be quite honest I was quite blown away - I think its great, it has style, Tradition and theres something from a persons heart!

Now when I read this over, it hit me as to how lucky I have been over these few years of being here in our Traditional world, and I stand back and look at what has accumulated around me in the way of beautiful old knives, and this sort of thing that goes along with it, and the one very special thing that also accompanies our Traditional world, is you - one of the lucky ones who have found this place, and we are pretty much like a way way out distant small community the way they used to be, kinda cool our place here in Traditionals.

Brilliant !!Got any salt for my leopard Meako ??.....Totally agree with you Duncan, a special place....FES

Those will make for fine, more subtle décor pieces. Pocketknifejimmy, is rubbing off on me, I thought those would be ideal for a display of a sort, I hadn't previously contemplated making a display, but that's what came to mind when I first saw your pics.

Wild! What a treasure. Very cool, and thanks for sharing those with us. Congrats on that, Duncan, couldn't have gone to a more deserving or appreciative recipient, I'm sure.

I hope that you enjoyed looking at them....

Thanks, Duncan-- I sure did!

I enjoy not only fine graphic design (especially that with connection to something in which I'm interested), but also pondering what makes an old(er) design so appealing. It's not just the passing of time, but there does seem to be a sense of place in time that can be brought to bear, an evocation I welcome.

("Just add time" doesn't always work, of course, and modern attempts to recapture the sought-for evocation so often come up short, twee and/or contrived.)

I really enjoy looking at these images. Thank you so much for taking the time to compose, photograph and post them for us.
