Yesterday I made with a friend a shelter in the woods. He took his custom Rat, I took my custom Busse. Off course I've got some pics:thumbup:

This is the shelter we made:

That looks great -- good job.

Those are some REALLY nice knives too -- cool to see them getting used.

Seeing your shelters always makes my day! One of my very favorite things to do out in the wild since I was very young.
If you're ever over in this neck of the woods, you have to come by so we can build one of those. (sssshhhhh, and so I can see his SFNOs);)

Very nice Jur!

I'd like to learn how to make a shelter like that.
When will we go test some Busse's?

Thnx for the kind words! The shelter took us about 4hours making. We are still practicing in making shelters. Inside the shelter it's pretty warm. This type off shelter doesn't need a fire inside to make it warm. The construction type of this shelter provides it's own heat, with the right amount of isolation/camouflage. It's big enough for 3 persons with gear.

Eric, just shoot me a mail if you want to join us in making shelters.

I remember you saying your friend left the RW out and it got wet and started corroding. Was he able to clean it back up? What did he use to get off the rust? Thanks.

Yes he was able to clean it up. He used ballistol oil:thumbup:

Looks better than the one I made recently..... :grumpy:

Oh well, the starlit night at this particular location did not require much of a shelter.....

Great job and nice pictures.

Good work guys. That looks like a very warm and comfortable shelter. Good to see busses in action. I would love to give a SFNO a try and then keep it no doubt :D

I am looking foward to getting out bush again and giving the Mud Razor another work out..

We made this one after practicing in some shelter building. Before this we made like 3/4 other shelters, they where crap to. But the more you practice the better they will be. Next week we will practice again and make another type of shelter.

Nice work ! When you make your shelters do you lay down thick grass / pine branches on the floor? They say that you lose the majority of your body heat through the ground , something like 60-70% I think. When we used to go camping me and my friends would forget the tents and sleep in self made shelters :D

Ideal would be pine branches, but in that area of the wood there are no pine trees. So we put this time some layers of grass. And your right, you'll lose the most of your body heat by the ground, so whenever you're making a shelter, always take care of good ground isolation:thumbup:
