Today my wife and I took the dog on a walk and visited the shelter that we made after
Christmas.
No more snow in the area and it's been very warm for the last couple of weeks.
View from the back going down the hill to the shelter
View from the front looking up the hill that we just came down
Pulled the door out of the way, and the inside was nice and dry.
My mutt decided to try the shelter out.
Took along my Becker BK9 and a Mora Clipper today.
Arctic swans winter on the river here.
My mutt decided that he wanted to chase them. Here he is stalking...
The swans just swam away and chattered at him
Heading back up to the car, looking west, we saw a couple of columns of smoke
A closer shot shows that the forestry people were doing some slash burning
Those hills where the fire is, used to be densely populated with pine trees.
The pine beetle has had a devastating effect on our area.
Hardly no snow this year, and lots of dead pine trees is going to lead to a
really crappy fire season this coming summer I think.
