Sher kami

That's one fine looking knife Mr Kronc...a few details would be appreciated.

grip length 4 3/8 in., guard 2" x 1 3/8 oval (octagonal with rounded 'corners') hard brass or bronze, blade width at guard 1 3/8, 1.5 in. at start of upper edge, 'false' edge is not false, it's sharp & 3 in. long, total blade length 13.25 in. blade is a hair over 1/4 in. thick at the guard, there is a shallow fuller/hollow grind down both sides which is apparent in the photos. blade is distal tapered. octagonal brass/bronze butt plate is 2 1/8 in. x 1 3/8 in. and is held by the peened tang. there is a gearlike or sunburst like washer of about 1/2 in. between the peen and the butt plate. weight 400gm. (14.1 oz. in old money)
been told it's roughly ww2 era.

all in all this is now one of my favourites. it's more of a short sword. love it. i'd posted it here (in the cantina) before, can't use the search to find the earlier thread. i remember someone saying they were going to ask the kamis to make one like it...

edited: found the old thread, it's HERE

Thank you for the info and the link to your thread ...don't know how I missed it first time round but glad to see it now.!

Interestingly how similar it is to the Sher Bowie especially in relation to the false edge and the guard, wish Sher's grip was more like the one on your knife as I am happy with partial tangs rather than having a full width one on every blade made ...I'll use my CAK as a pry bar if I need one. ;)

It will be interesting to see whether any new Sher Bowies stick to the dimensions of the first run but one change I'd be happy to see would be a hollow forged blade like on your beautiful knife.:D
