Well,
You fellas know I have been awaiting my Tamboti Sebenza with it's notorious poison scales: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1157643-quot-poison-quot-sebenza-inbound.
I thought I'd take some glamour shots while she is new and pristine. I have to say this knife was worth the wait! I love it. It is really the right mix of subtle and sublime for me, and is my favourite CRK purchase so far. I bought it with the intention of committing it to hard use, but I might need to work up to that
. I am sure she will get her share of nicks and dings once the honeymoon is over. I really like how the gold hardware is a dark bronze colour, not a real bright gold. Also this knife was the sharpest knife I have every received from CRK. Whomever was doing the sharpening on November 15th, 2012 deserves a promotion (unless it was the boss
)
Very interestingly.....this knife does smell very strongly of Tamboti (African Sandalwood). It doesn't just smell a bit, but quite a lot, including the box it came in, and the polishing cloth it was wrapped in. So much so that you notice it without looking for it, even sometimes when you take it out of your pocket. It's a very pleasant smell, sort of a woody/cedar/incense kind of aroma. I am thinking this smell might wear off, but the knife was born in November 2012, so maybe not. In that case wow! I can see why they make perfume out of this stuff.
Anyways....I didn't die when I opened the box, so you'll have to put up with more rambling posts from me for now. Maybe the effects of the Tamboti poison are delayed, in which case it's been swell knowing you all
