I just ordered yet ANOTHER knife. You guys were right, you get one, you want another. ha!

Just ordered up the Spyderco Byrd Crossbill. Don't think I can beat the $25 shipped price for what quality I've read about it on this forum.

Hmmm..... now, what to tell the wife when the bank statement comes. ;)

My wife is so used to a new knife showing up every few weeks that she no longer asks the price. :D

Hahahaha, they (wives, girl friends, ladies, whatever....) will get used to you. The end, all you have to learn is how to endure...not words...more of facial expression.

They found words are no longer usful, they will often roll their eyes as their protest.

Maybe it's because I've never been married that I don't understand...but assuming you're still paying the bills and all, what's so bad about spending money on things you like, such as knives? Assuming you're working and making the money yourself, why should they complain? Do they put all of their money towards gift for you and bills solely, do they not buy themselves things for pleasure? Not trying to offend, just curious.

Cigars and knives get shipped to my office. Golf clubs (Callaways) are always on sale for around ten dollars :D :D

On the other hand, she always seems to find shoes, coats, skirts, sweaters, blah, blah, blah on sale for around ten dollars.

Quid pro quo....maybe that's why we've been married for 36 years this September.

What Esav said. You just cannot understand until you are married. Wives ask ridiculous questions like why don't we get new carpeting or a new washer, or refrigerator, or that new dress she wants while we are spending big bucks on knives. It all boils down to priorities my friend. Enjoy the single life while you can.

Back to the knife.

I picked up a Crossbill a while back and have been very impressed with it. I re-profiled the blade to 20 degrees and it cuts and holds an edge very well. I've been using it as a utility knife and for scoring sheet-rock and soundboard, cutting cardboard, stripping wire amongst other things. I've come to love a hawkbill shaped blade. I would make it an EDC if it wasn't so big.

I just bought 2 knives here in the for sale forum. This is the first time that I did not ask my better half first- but as one of them is for her and the other for me (and they match in my mind) I think that I will get away with it. If nobody hears from me again- know that I didn't get away with it. But it was worth it!!

Supposedly you'll explain about the bill - ut what you gonna do with a knife itself - bury it at the backyard?

My wife put me on a budget and it doesnt look like its working-:D only if she considers a revolving allowance...

I need a 10 step program for knives & guns....:o

This is how does it is work:
Wife knows that you have a few knives, like 3 or 4 and if you have 55, but she does not see all of them at once, she still thinks that it is 3 or 4 and each on of them from $3 to $5. It is not a good idea to tell her that knife can cost more for the reasons stated above by digdeep

My wife dosn't understand my knife habit either. Fortunatly I pick up the mail almost everyday and can hide most of them. I actually have a number of them coming in the next 3-4 months (3 ritter M2s, 1 Hinderer XM-18 and a custom fixed blade), I guess I have bunch of truck parts in the mail. Steven

Mine doesn't bug me about my knives and I don't bug her about her shoes and scrapbooking:D She did bug me a bit about my Sharpmaker a bit "Why do you need another sharpener? You already have a lot of sharpeners" My response - "But this is THE sharpener" She just rolled her eyes and said "What ever". I accidently, on purpose forgot to tell her that my Buck Northshore was in the same box - it might have illicited another conversation about a Xikar I bought the other day and the 4 Delica 4's I bought a couple of weeks before, and potentially an Endura 4 or two and Lone Wolf/Harsey T2 that I might accidently bump into in the next week or so:D And then, of course, Roland at Target Knives is trying to snag one of the new ZDP Delica's for me when they ship. It might have got ugly in a hurry:)

Well, as soon as my Scallion arrives, my wife gets the Schrade Badger I now carry. The first time she needs it and understands just how useful the little bugger actually can be, much will come clear to her. Now, how do I get her to understand my 'need' for that Buck Akonua LE?

That's it. I've got to get my wife into collecting. ha! Never happen.

She balanced the account last night and found out. Dang it. Not too much trouble. She rolled her eyes and asked me what I could possibly do with "another knife". I told her the different blade shape to this knife and how I'm going to carry it in ADDITION to some of my others. She then proceeded to tell me exactly the date I bought the last one. Then I was told "no more knives this year" WHAT? I'm not too sure about that. Father's day is coming up. My birthday, our anniversary, Christmas, etc. I can get away with getting new knives for those occasions, but I think I'm done sneaking any new knives for awhile.

Flashpoint -
I'm glad to hear that you like the Crossbill. I did quite a bit of reading of reviews on here before I decided. It'll be my first hawkbill blade. I'm excited! It's supposed to be here tomorrow. :D It may be big, but I'm going to carry it on my job, which is a serviceworker so I can get away with it..... I carry a Kershaw SS Leek when I'm going "out".

Thanks for all the replies guys. :)
