Shield on a Bolstered Barlow?

Opinion of a shield on a bolstered Barlow 4” Closed length

Seems to me that a non-functional element such as a shield should be a matter of personal preference, so I voted for the third option in your poll. Having said that, my personal preference tends to be no shield on a Barlow that has letters or images stamped onto the bolster, while I'm fine with a shield on a "blank bolster" Barlow. But even I have exceptions to that "personal preference principle". This Remington Big Daddy Barlow (thanks, Shawn) has "Remington" stamped on the bolster, but I think it looks fine with the bullet shield, too. (I'm no Barlow expert, though, and don't especially carry the pattern very much, although I like the examples I have.)

There are few examples out there. I think both with and without can be nicely done.

I really admire Barlow’s, they just look like they want to work. I like the look without a Shield. Simple marking on the bolsters like the old Russell Barlow or recent TC Barlow are my fav.
