Shinola Manhattan Knife

Please do report back with your thoughts. I’ve always liked the MS3, but was held back by the G10. Curious if this new version will feel like a $300 knife or not.

There does seem to be more differences then just the scales and blade steel. So it might end up being a little unfair to call it a straight up ti MS3.

Front flipper would have been nice, but not sure it will matter much.

will do! that's why i called a "sexier titanium version" :D. in terms of living up to the price tag, he is building them and if it's as well built as his S series, then i say the price tag is justified. one thing to note, unlike some of their other products, shinola doesn't really jack up the prices on knives. The benchmade valet was the same MSRP as the regular Valet. of course the regular is sold at MAP, where as the shinola version is sold at MSRP exclusively by shinola

that's what i said (about wanting it in a front flipper)! his MS1 model is a front flipper, this shinloa is just a sexier titanium version of his MS3. i will be trying it out over the weekend. if anyone cares, i'll report back with impressions. the feist definitely reminds me of his knives, not sure which came first since Justin's Feist had a prototype way before the kizer version, and the Ziebas have also been around for a while. this G1 probably resembles the fiest the most

Overall I like his designs. I wish front flippers were more popular. I wonder if they will catch on in the greater knife market outside South Africa. So far they are becoming slowly more popular and well known.

I have long been aware of knives that opened in this way. For example you can actually front flip most Emerson Cqc7s, then there was a Kersaw with a front opening action. It had no front flipper tab but rather jimping around that area so you opened it like a Bic lighter.

However I had just considered these curiosities. I hadn't considered that front opening could be as viable and elegant sn opening option as a flipper tab or thumbstud.

Front flipper can be just as easy to use as flipper tabs on the bottom of a knife once you get used to them. For a while I had a few South African front flippers, and I enjoyed them.

I still find that they are abit more fiddley, some of them I can flick open well, some of them like the Boker Exskelibur I can't flick well at all, only slow thumb roll it open. My Fiest on the other hand I can flick with both thumbs and index fingers.

I know this thread is old but I'm wondering if anyone else has this knife. I saw it in a Shinola's store with my wife and fell in love with it. Way to extravagant for my though at $300.00. To my utter surprise my wife bought it for me as a gift. Good news/ bad news. This is the knife that took me down the rabbit hole. Before that I maybe had 4 "nice" knives, all in the $100.00 or below range (Delica, Cryo, Leek, etc). I haven't bought anything as much as the Zieba yet, but I'm up to 15+ knives in the $100.00~200.00 range. That said the Zieba is by far the star of the show. It just oozes quality and sophistication. It's the only I carry when wearing a suit. They are no longer available though. So, anyone else have one? What is the general consensus on Zieba knives here in general?

I have an S1-mini for over a year and recently bought his Knight collaboration, th S5-mini. Excelent knives, sweet flippers good price and nice guy. Thinking about getting the S5-mini engraved. I don't baby it at all, but they are certainly pretty :). Only custom maker I've bought more than one knife from. Excellent quality, reasonable price.
