Ship Wreck Coin Sebenza - El Cazador

Wow, it's a small world. My family found this wreck back in 93. I remember coming home from school and they took me upstairs and opened the door to one our the rooms. In front of me was a cannon and hundreds of uncleaned silver coins. I think i was in 5th or 6th grade at the time and did a project for my history class on the wreck-- got 1st place. After high school, I spend a few years cleaning and preserving coins and artifacts at our museum. I also spent 3 month at sea on one of the last and most productive salvage trips of the shipwreck before we sold it. It was a great time in my life, and something that I will never forget. I have to say, i've never seen one of our coins mounted like this. Jim Reahard (the signature on the certificate) was my grandfather--he has passed away now and is sorely missed.

Small world indeed. I think you need to get your hands on one of these special knives as well.

Very nice exhibition piece there!

Perhaps...

That certificate appears a little off. 2dead would you mind sending me a pic of the cert? The coin def. appears to have all the traits of coins from our wreck, but that cert.. something doesn't look right. Is there a date on it?

Now thats awesome! A piece of history, and a Sebenza all rolled into one:thumbup:

I drooled ocher these when they were released, just didn't have the money at the time.
Congrats on getting a very special, unique, and beautiful Sebenza.
