The USPS (United State Postal Service) has raised the shipping cost on all Knives and Swords, so I am being forced to change my business practices and charge my US collectors a shipping fee.
I regret that I no longer ship the DOTD to US collectors free of charge if I want to stay in business.

The following fees for shipping will have to be added to your future orders:

Swords--$20 shipping
Big Knife ...$20
Medium Knife ...$14
Small Knife --- $7

I deeply regret having to add these charges to your future orders, but I need to stay in business and keep my Kamis working.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Business is business. You gotta do what you gotta do to stay in it. I was surprised in the first place that free shipping was offered. Its not cheap to send knives through the mail.

Hi Yangdu, will there be any additional cost for international shipping, or does this apply exclusively to domestic U.S. delvieries?

No worries here! Glad you are planning to stay in business. I just sent payment for my new Kobra :D.
Happy to include the shipping.

Thank you Yangdu!

Completely Understandable, Auntie.
You gotta do everything you can to stay afloat these days, I'm am only amazed that you were able to keep the free shipping going for so long.

Makes no difference, H.I. khukuri are still the best blade for the price, anywhere.

It is a small price to pay for the service you provide us. I for one will continue to purchase regardless. You are extremely good to all of us and treat us like family, Im here to stay!!

International shipping cost:

Priority mail $35
EMS $45

This is totally reasonable. Shipping simply IS expensive, and the rates you are offering are more than fair. My wife bought me a $7 recoil kit for my pistol for Christmas. Lil' bitty thing weighing no more than a couple ounces. $9.95 to ship it:rolleyes:

I'm all for whatever keeps the hammers to the anvils:thumbup:

Even with that kind of shipping, we're paying less than half the cost of what it would be to have an American knifemaker forge an identical blade. Couple that with top of the line customer service, and I think I can safely predict the sharks all collectively turning a blind eye to a shipping charge.

I was stunned that DotD's didn't include shipping, and I wondered how you could do it. After learning, myself, how much it takes to ship stuff (when we sent you all that wood) this honestly makes me feel better.

I agree with everyone - I was always surprised by the free shipping.
Good decision!

Not a problem here, either. I'll be more than happy to pay it for the quality service and product received.
If I can't afford a reasonable shipping charge, then I probably shouldn't be buying the knife.

That's certainly fair- consider that HI foots the airfare all the way from the Himalayas; you're just paying for the last leg/commuter flight from Reno.

Mike :D

JMO but I think it might be more efficient to simply raise the cost of the item to account for the increase in shipping.

For example a khukuri which previously would sell for $100 on a DOTD would now cost $120 because of the increase in shipping cost.

I'm still in for buying some more H.I. goodies. Even paying more for shipping it's worth it if it means obtaining the finest khukuris in the world and helping support the incredibly skilled Kamis.
