Shipping knives to Canada

....Besides, who wants to deal with lawyers?

I do, I do! :)

I haven't researched this, but I might be the only person on the planet who has not had a bad experience with a lawyer. And besides, they're the best source of "lawyer jokes"!

;)

Here's one I wrote for a fake bumper sticker we made up for my own lawyer's car:

I have had no problem with anything comming to me from the States so far. All me AXIS locks have come up no problem.

I have had package come USPS Airmail, Purolator Airmail, and Purolator.

Now the next step os to see if I can get an AUTO in not that would be cool.

Protactical> swords.ca is my local B&M shop... great folks in there, and will order if you want.

I just picked up a stainless spyderco jester, got it tossed on the order that was going in a week. single knife ordered on top of stock, as they don't figure sales would take on it. Paid the same price as for the FRN model, but I've been shopping at Cutting Edge since 96 and usually get a 10% discount.

I have had a cold steel para edge, and a cold steel rescue knife sent up from the CONUS, the para edge was labled as $20 and I paid 8 in duties, the rescue knife was labled as $50 and I didn't pay a cent. The para edge was opened and inspected, the CS rescue knife wasn't. I figure that it's hit and miss with those *****s.

Nuts! From your thread title I thought that you were shipping some knives to Canada and were looking for someone that was interested in receiving them. I was going to volunteer. Oh well, better luck next time I guess.

Keith,

You mean you haven't been receiving the stream of Busse folders I've been mailing you?

I know that certain types of folding knives aren't enjoyed by customs, so I marked the boxes as "dead puppies".

Corwin, it may not be illegal to receive a false valuation, unknowingly, but that isn't what i'm talking about here, though your example is interesting. The fun part is when the dealer thinking real hard about it, puts a valuation on the package, and then encloses a CC slip with phone order writen accross it, and a nice big price. Hey, I'd be tempted to say that knife had a loose pivot myself.

I'm the one who sent the knife with the loose pivot to corwin99, and
just to set things in the right perspective...Corwin didn't make a
claim at all on that package. I sent the knife to him to play with
and return to me when he was through. The knife is sold in Canada, or
at least by dealers located in Canada, so being loose shouldn't have
been a problem, but it was. It was looser than a slipjoint, but no
looser than any of the other CRKT's or Benchmades I've sent him in
the past. I've also sent a few Kershaw assisted openers and they had
no problem with them either. None of this loose pivot discussion has
anthing to do with a false valuation.
