Shipping knives to various states and the laws that pertain?

I know that the State and Local laws in all areas vary pretty widely. The thought occurred to me AFTER shipping off a drop point to California, that I know Bubkis about the laws elsewhere and it might be helpful to know. I believe that the sharing of this information would be beneficial to everyone here.

So. Who know what about the laws where?

Most laws on knives pertain to carrying and using in crimes.
Knives on people's kitchen counter tops are larger than your drop point.
Few knives are illegal to posses or ship except for switch blades/Autos, and those states are becoming fewer and fewer.
Relax.

Here's hoping. It should arrive tomorrow. Ill be watching the tracking #.

I just sent two to chef's knives to Maryland and didn't have any problems. The thing is that they don't know what you're shipping. Just stick them in a box and ship them off. I bought the insurance but I'm not sure it's necessary. It was only $4 for $300 worth of insurance.

Djinn, there is a knife law sub forum on here, it has posts about the various laws in most states but you can also check online just by typing in the phrase and state and it should link you to the relevant statute.

The major laws regarding shipping autos are Federal IIRC and one dimwit manager at the USPS told me the reg applied to ALL knives. They had to be shipped from "dealer to dealer" Of course, he could not tell me what a dealer was. The idiot would not budge even when confronted with the specific language of the reg that he was citing. I just went to a different post office where the manager had already gotten his new brain from the Wizard.
