anyone ever had a knife ship and been sent out for delivery before it arrived at post office?

Are you saying you have tracking info before the knife is actually shipped?
Or is it out for delivery without arriving at you local PO first?

I'm confusedo_O

Yup, happens all the time. Solar flares and such being what they are cause all sorts of shifts in the time space continuum.

Really though, its usually is just a cog failing to scan and log a package on one of its many steps.

I got a knife today from Slovakia that supposedly was still in Customs at JFK...

Cheers/bg

I had one ship from Omaha, Nebraska to Springfield, Illinois and the very first scan was "Delivered at Omaha, Nebraska".

I got the package in a timely manner but I think the postal clerk in Omaha pushed the wrong button when the seller handed it to him.

I've had it happen several times. I've even had one show "awaiting pickup" or whatever it says when you create the label before sending it to the post office, only to arrive before it was seemingly "scanned" at all. It's a little nerve racking if you're a track watcher, but it's a nice little surprise either way!

With all the packages the USPS deals with everyday and the shoddy way they handle things I am shocked that as many packages get to there destination at all.
And sometimes they actually get there on time. AMAZING

To be fair, and to change the subject a little, I've noticed that for about a year now USPS has been overestimating the "Expected Delivery Day" in many cases. I often receive packages the day before that date nowadays. Not always but probably 50% of the time.

It used to be the other way around. I would expect a package on Wednesday for example because that's what the "Expected Delivery Day' said. I would end up getting it on Thursday. Extremely frustrating because the tracking would update after my Wednesday mail was delivered, not before. The whole time I'm thinking I'm going to get a package but nope, not today. Maybe tomorrow. And the only reason I thought that in the first place is because that's what it said.

Now I either get packages on the Expected Delivery Day or the day before. Never the day after. USPS can be frustrating at times but this change was a good move.
