Shipping out of USA

I have sent many items to France and to Canada (about 40ish .. so far nothing missing - knock on the wood). The best way is USPS int'l express mail and I think the best way is stated as repaired item ... along with invoice stated as a repaired item and put low value ($60-$100) unless you gonna insured it (BUT there is max insurance .. depend on the dest. country... Like France.. max .. (if I am not mistaken) was $600)

I just recently shipped a knife to Switzerland via USPS international "express" and the clerk said there was a max., $650 insurance.

The best way to send to Switzerland is USPS Int'l Express. As Tai said,
the max Insurance will be $650....Delivery will be about 5 days.

The insurance is based on the declared value of the goods. Most of the times you can´t declare the real price of the goods because of the import taxes cost (sometimes, as in Brazil, over 25%), so even if there was higher insurance coverage the costumer would probably not benefit from it, unless he is prepared to pay full taxes over the real value of the knife.

That would not be a much of a problem over a regular camp knife in the 300-500 $ range, but what if it turns to be a fancy knife?

Just my 2 cents.

Yep international express & global priorty are the go. I've had lots shipped here, including by 3 members of this thread. I've never had a problem, labelled camping tool. It's up to the buyer to know their local regs in regard to legality. Probably 90% have been opened & inspected by customs never problem. However if a maker doesn't feel comfortable shipping OS I can respect that, both parties need to be happy.

I shipped one to Australia once using the USPS, it took 3 weeks. Label it a camping tool, per customer. Find out what the customer want's and keep in touch till it arrives.

G'day Ricky

Cheers
