I am selling a knife and a man from Russia asked if I would ship it to him. He is paying via pay pal and has unconfirmed address I don't believe you can confirm it in russia. Any way it is a 375$ transaction and he has asked me to ship it under these guidelines:when shipping please put in a custom form "camping tool" or "camping folder" and not big value.

Any advice asa would be a big help.

Buyer also has no feedback on blade forums.

he doesnt want to pay alot of duties and taxes on it. i dont see why you shouldnt do this for him. check his paypal record. this is the most important thing.

This is not abnormal, and should be raise an alarm. Now, if he asked you to send it to some other country, or some other person's name, that would be a different story IMO.

As long as he pays it, i dont see the problem. The higher the value, the more customs will charge him to receive it, so if you put a low value on it, he wont have to pay much. Also where he is, the law might not let him have it if its a weapon, but if its a camping tool, then they shouldnt have a problem with it.

Paypal requires proof of delivery if there is a problem.
The only service that offers this is Express.
If you do not get the delivery confirmation, you will not be covered.
You can not insure for one value and put another on the customs form,
if it is not insured for the full value,
You are taking the risk, not them..

I ship out of the country all the time and have never had one go missing...

i ship using usps express priority insured, about 43 to 45 bucks. i do not under value or lie as it could be a felony to do so, not that i care but who knows? i always list item as "fixed blade knife" period.
my packages have always made it and only have had one returned because of a smeared wet label.
remember, it's not your fault they live in an other country with strange rules and regs.

There are thousands of transactions conducted daily overseas, follow the rules and you should be OK.

Some of your junk even made it to me :D:D

The thing that scares me the most if this was my knife is "no feedback on BF."

I guess if he's been here for 3 years, posted several times a week and seems OK, I'd be OK. Someone has to be his FIRST feedback. My personal rule is "if you can't be verified, ie: I don't know you and no one on BF knows you, I won't ship it." Call me paranoid.

I've never lied on a customs form either. Descriptions are descriptions. Value is another thing. Put $30 for a $375 knife and it gets lost, guess what # they'll look at? $30.

I do. It is against the law, and leaves you liable and possibly facing criminal charges in at least one nation. Also, declaring packages for less than actual value probably means that you have insured it for less... If it does not make its destination, then what? Even if you both agreed that the Buyer is responsible for whatever happens, he/she may very well still come back here and trash your reputation in the GB&U out of frustration & anger over lost items and money.

As 'Skunk has stated, it is not your fault that other countries charge more for imports...and even if we all can agree that this suxx, it is what it is.

If you bend the rules/laws and something happens, all you have to blame will be yourself. Just sayin'.

The main thing I was worried about was chargebacks. His email for pay pal is the same As the one I contacted him with so I don't think it's a stolen card deal.

Quite aside from the legalities ... which, of course, Jaxx is absolutely correct about ...

It's just wrong.

Don't lie.

This is likely something your parents told you. And guess what? They were right.;)

You will live a more satisfying and complete life if you develop and maintain a sense of integrity. Can't do that if you stain yourself, even if they are "just little white lies.":)

Well stated.

-false value: not good but nearly impossible to proof its wrong, I mean it's not forbidden to sell a 1k$-knife for 2$....
-'camping tool' instead of 'fixed blade': no problem cause a fixed blade is a camping tool imo...
To show you why he asks for this:
when I had my sar6 shipped to switzerland I received the knife and a bill over 70$....

Notes should be taken by readers of this thread.
Sellers beware of those asking to falsify values.
Like Skunk said, it's not your fault they reside where they do.

Again, it is understood why. Again, I personally think that it suxx to have to pay so much in import tax... But even if it is "nearly impossible" to prove, it is still wrong. Personally, it is not worth even a remote chance of being caught, charged, convicted, fined, and possibly incarcerated to save someone a small chunk of money that their government sees fit to tax them for imported products. Are you willing to pay your Seller's lawyer fees, court costs and fines...and even come to the USA to serve their sentence in a federal prison if they get caught in a lie???? Even if the chances are very slim, I highly doubt it.

IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK.

One problem about buying Busse knives is the insane custom fees whe have to pay in Canada to get them in... That's why he asked for a 'lower' value.
And since it's a second hand knife the lower value does make sense...

I sent a knife to the Ukraine last year. It took 2 months to get there. I would not ship w/out ins. as the buyer can file a claim against you with PP.

I have shipped overseas many times and no problems so far, I was sweating the Ukraine deal and will not ship to eastern Europe again.

Good Luck
O
