Shipping to Australia

Just wait a little, spydies are in the works for Aus that will be importable. I guess we will see if ZT wants a piece of the market or not. I don't think anyone else wants their name and address on the list.

This.

Lots of Spydies are already available including Delica, Dragonfly, Chaparral, PM2 and many more.

Be patient on the others but if it doesn't turn out we need to be responsible and not expect senders to take unnecessary risks or breach import regs.

I am a bit out of touch; the changes were expected last month but it sounds like there may be some inconsistent information. It also sounds like Customs are working with stakeholders to resolve it.

One of us should probably start a thread with the updated information for everyone's reference.

Ive already got a zt 560 and PM2 and that just isn't a lot of availability which is the issue haha

Yeh that is true I don't expect people to do it is they aren't comfortable. I completely agree

Is the flick test still used in Australia as the main method for determining whether a folding knife is a gravity knife?

My relatives have migrated there and I am seriously considering joining them for the slower pace of life, but this hobby is standing in the way of that aim. I know that most of the S&W and Schrade knives are on Australia's blacklist, but what about the Sanrenmus and Enlans? I pick up a new SRM or Enlan blade at a rate of 1 every two or three weeks, and I'd really not want to find myself on the wrong side of the law if I can help it.

The flick test is still used. And it seems like the Hulk performs the test haha Im not sure on whether they would be. The laws are meant to be changing by the start of 2016 but i wouldn't believe anything until it's written down

Changing for the better or for worse?

The idea and hope is that they will go to just using the list, so no flick test. Of course your regional carry rules will be still in play, so carry will be different, but at least you should be able to know if you can get it in. And obviously the more retailers that can confidently import, the better the prices will be (well, and the exchange rate, but at least you stand a chance when the dollar is good)

But is there an updated listing of Australia customs' whitelist and blacklist? The last list I managed to find was quite dated (i think it was in 2013?) and almost every single Schrade and S&W knife I own (all non-assisted, by the way) were in the blacklist. As for the whitelist, I remember seeing some Benchmades and Bucks, but almost no Enlan and Sanrenmu. With the new change to the laws, I'm curious as to what will Australis'a customs officials do with the existing lists? Will blades on the blacklist be revised? Will blades not on the whitelist be allowed to pass as long as it's not an auto or an assisted?

Good news to hear the laws are changing - for those that don't know, they used to be a bit more relaxed, until maybe 2011.

I think they will be revised. And as for moving here just wait and see if the laws change and whats important to you. I'm considering moving to the states because of the freedom haha.

My wife and I travelled to Australia a few years back and we went to Sydney, Cairnes and Adelaide. Lovely country. I was just reading where Nerf can't ship their new foam gun to Australia because the powers-that-be think it resembles an "assault weapon." Not that they know what an assault weapon actually is. I have several Scottish friends in my area who are enjoying the freedoms!

Its Absolutely ridiculous! haha Well I'm originally English, Emigrated to Oz so have experience Will see what the future holds

Basically One handed opening knives are allowed to be imported so thumb studs and flippers. Assisted knives, OTF's and Balisongs are still restricted but hey its a start
