First off, you guys in the states have it way too good for shipping. The wait time/cost to ship north of the border is so much more. But I am curious what is with the huge shipping differences in companies? I have seen quotes for shipping of $8-$37 for 1 knife. For example knifeworks wants 37 flat rate to ship to Canada. I can't believe what a ripoff that is! Is it a big hassle to ship north so they tack on extra shipping charges?

If any Canadians can recommend sites that have fair shipping rates (and good prices!) I'm all ears

Have you checked Warriors and Wonders? They are located in Vancouver.

This is where I get my stuff now. Even had digi-cam PM2 in stock last month. Jumped on it. Seems to be the only place in Canada with a ton of knives to chose from. I think it was under 10.00 bucks for shipping from Van to Cow Town.

I just checked them out, looks like they have decent prices on some stuff. The knife I just ordered out of the states cost 40 dollars more on there though!

Absolutely. I buy almost all of my knives from the US and have them shipped to Canada - Canadian prices and taxes just make it more expensive all-round to buy within Canada.

White Mountain Knives and RNK City Knives are probably my two favourite sellers, both located in the States. I usually buy through their ebay pages, but they have normal web stores as well. White Mountain often has free shipping, or at least very inexpensive options available, and RNK City usually charges 5-8$ Maxmimum for most things I've ordered. Plus they're extremely reliable from what I've seen so far - I've placed probably 15 or so orders between the two of them and haven't had any problems whatsoever. It doesn't hurt that they usually have the best prices out of the ebay sellers, too.

I have had a couple of knives stopped at the border and had to pay customs charges on them, but that's a risk with any expensive item you buy from outside of Canada. Plus, I would have had to pay a similar amount in sales tax anyway if I had ordered them from within Canada.

If you want to buy within Canada, I've had great experiences with S&R knives out of Toronto. Again, I usually order through their ebay store. They tend to have a pretty outstanding selection, and tend to get lots of newly-released knives before anyone else. Their prices are quite good as far as Canadian webstores go (but they can't really compete with American stores in that regard), and shipping is quite good (I think it's 12-13$ for most pocket knives throughout Canada, shipped by FedEx, IIRC).

Hope this helps!

True, but when you add in the excessive shipping and the customs fees, it works it self out. And I don't have to wait 2+ weeks, or maybe not get it at all because customs might keep it...On Bladehq you can't even select shipping to Canada. and if you get them to do it (I called them to see what the deal was) , they wave any responsibility if confiscated by Canada Customs. Just not worth the hassel. W & W had my PM2 to my door in 3 days. To each his own though. I may check out Mountain and RNK to see what there all about.

Depending how close you are to the border there are places you can get them shipped to within the states like Pembina parcel. They hold it till you pick it up or if a friend is heading down they can pick it up for you. Costs about $5

Well so far I guess I have been lucky but no customs fees. Also the site I just ordered off of cost 9 bucks to ship the item out of the southern states as opposed to 11 bucks at the store you recommended in BC. Add onto that the extra 40 bucks for knife as well. Like you said though for a few bucks not worth it, but for 40 bucks I can wait 2 weeks.

Thanks for the suggestions on websites guys, really appreciate it. Keep em coming!
