shipping to Canada?

I wouldn't be overly concerned for about another week. I have had things arrive that were shipped Global Priority in as little as six days and as much as four weeks. Usually it takes between two and three weeks. Most of the time is spent at Canada Customs.

I guess I'll give it some more time.

I swear, one more bad experience and I am giving up shipping out of the country completely.

The worst thing is that some Customs Inspectors are checking if folders can be flicked open. If they can they are confiscating the knives.

The person that the knife is being shipped to will receive notification from Canada Customs that the knife has been confiscated. I am not sure what the options are at that point.

Just went through this myself a few weeks ago. Give it a few more days. Took awhile for mine to get through Canadian Customs. Check the tracking on usps.com . Once you see it has cleared customs it'll only be a couple more days.

Bill, I'm going through this right now. It sat at Canadian Customs for about 6 weeks before the buyer received a notice concerning the knife. Evidently, they were able to flick it open. The buyer is now weighing his options with them but it appears that they will let DHL ship it back to me. No more international shipping for me. For anyone contemplating shipping a knife to Canada, I would highly suggest tightening down the pivot screw prior to shipping. I wish I had known that beforehand.

I had one get lost then turn up in Plattsburg NY, I resent it and i finally got there, total PITA, I didnt stay on he PO and had to pay to ship it a 2nd time.

i have shipped to canada a few times, never any problem other than it takes a while, about 10 days IIRC, do be sure and tighten the pivot down though.

I've given up on sending knives out of the country. I get tired of items never arriving.
I don't seem to have a problem receiving things it's just when I send something, It's a real "crap shot" if they'll get it or not.

good to hear. i bought a Bog Dog from a seller who lived there and it was the longest 3 weeks of my life. but it came through. it just takes a little longer w/ customs and such.

My experience with shipping TO Canada has been good overall.
The delivery time between Air Mail and Global Priority seems to be virtually the same in reality, and it usually gets there within about 7 to 10 days.

On the other hand, my experiences receiving from Canada has been a totally different story.
Ever single item that I have received from our "brothers in the north" has taken at least three weeks to get here, regardless of how it was shipped.
One knife even took SIX WEEKS to get from Ontario to North Carolina....I suspect they sent it by sled dog, and the dog had to sniff every butt along the way! :thumbdn:

I'm at the point now where, unless it is an incredible deal, I'm very reluctant to trade with Canadians.
And I hate that because there are some really great folks up there.:(

Of the international trades I've done, I've had nothing but smooth trades into France, England, and Germany, but have had nothing but bad luck with knife business into and out of Canada (one knife was damaged due to Canadian Custom's inspection / inadequate repacking and one seized).

Well RAZZ I haven't had the luck you've obviously had but I also find it an imperial hassle trying to send stuff to Canada. One warning I can give to all of you is don't send anything up there via UPS. I have in the last year gotten 2 packages stolen. They were both insured and I did get my $$ but in one case it took almost 2 months

I have found that if you send them through the Post Office and DON'T INSURE them your chances of a smooth deal are much better.

This really gripes me too because I have made some pretty good friends up in Canada and I would do much more trading up there but the customs and other red tape is just absolutely abysmal  . For a country who for all intent & purposes is supposed to be a free country like ours you wouldn't know it by dealing with their customs agents :( . My local Postmaster said that she has had many more problems with Canada mail issues than any other country
