Shipping to the USA from abroad - some questions

(first of all, I dont know if this is the right forum section for my questions, but I didn't know where to post them else)

Hi there guys,

I am a knifemaker living in Germany, and I'm thinking about getting the knifemaker-status of this forum to sell my own stuff here.

Now, since I live in Germany and the vast majority of my possible customers lives in the US, I
have some questions about international shipping to the US etc.

First of all, do you know whether it is a big obstacle to be living in Germany if i want to sell knives here? Most people in the "for sale" section seem to be shipping to CONUS only, does that mean that most buyers only want to buy from makers in CONUS? The shipping costs are something like 22$...

My next question would be about legal issues of sending a knife to the US. I have once sent a set of kiridashis to the US without any problems, but I'm not sure whether I have to do anything else than just sending my stuff away like I normally do, when sending a full size knife. Do I have to fill out any paperwork for the US customs?

I'm sorry if these questions are very broad, but maybe someone has some experience about this matter...

I've send a few knives from Germany to the USA and one to Canada
They arived without any problems, but the one to Canada (BC) took a long time to get there.
You want to send with trace and track otherwise it is not insured (if I am right)
I payed app. 30~32 euro shippingcost
