Does anyone know of any good websites with history/info regarding the Shiro brothers?

I haven't been able to find an official site.. you'd think such a renowned brand would have more Internet presence.

Edit: shirogorov.com (duh) seems to be the official one.

I'd still be interested in other sites with any bio information and such.

One of the two brothers passed away not long ago, that might be why no site has been crated. Pressing and more important issues and such. If you search, you can find any kind of information you are looking for, you are on a knife forum after all. You also can try and email or message the dealers that sell them, they may have information available not readily available.

Yeah I remember when Igor passed.

Really I was looking for just a bit of a bio or interview with either of the brothers. Lazy Sunday.

I'll keep digging and if I find anything good I'll post it here for anyone else who may be interested.

I have never really given much thought to shirogorov knives other than to say how crazy the price point seemed. But recently I received a 111 knockoff as a gift. My wife had no idea what she was buying. And for the life of me I can't figure why she would pick this. And it's orange to top it off. But it has peaked my curiosity. If I sell off a few of my knives and save up, I may be able to get a legit shirogorov. Is that crazy or what?

Be sure to post some pics. Where did you buy it? If you don't mind me asking.

Does anyone know how they achieve the blade finish on these?
It's so smooth and uniform and perfect.. good grief this thing is pure class.

No offense to your wife (it was a thoughtful gift), but throw that knock-off in the trash and get a real one!!!

Seriously, the perfection will blow you away.

I'm new here so don't beat me up. I've been looking into possibly getting a Shiro. I like the look of these knives and have read almost all positive reviews. My biggest question is that they seem to offer some knives at a certain price point, then make the same knife, throw on some purple scales or multi row bearings and suddenly the price is double. Maybe it's just because of the secondary market but it kind of turns me off to the brand.

I think you're referring to the Shirogorov Custom Division knives? As the name implies, they're full customs, opposed to the typical production versions. I've never handled a Custom Division Shiro and, in all honesty, I haven't handled too many regular production Shiros; but I can tell you that most of the guys I know through the online forums that own Custom Divisions, typically own more than one. To me, that says something about the quality of the Custom Division models. Especially considering the massive price difference between the customs and the productions.

Check out the Custom Division 95 Slim link I posted earlier in this thread. Dmitry does some comparisons between the Custom Division and the Serial (production).

I think Jim Skelton has a YouTube video where he discusses the differences/value of a custom vs production Shirogorov. I owned a production Hati for a little bit and I would say that it just not possible to produce a more well made knife.

Love my F95 so much I've decided to procure a Tabargan from the same seller.. it's black g10/ano blue liners, axis lock, m390 blade. Pretty sure it's on washers but I've seen some with bearings.

Some pics from the seller..
