Has anyone noticed that Mod. 95's jumped over two bills in price? The latest batch from tnk has one that's identical to a mod. 95 I bought perhaps a year or more ago for $250 more today! I wonder what could of caused the price jump. Increase in material costs or something else? What do ya'll think?

Correct: Supply and demand should be the primary reason. Too bad TNK was late with putting them up for sale. I blocked off a 30 minute window at work to buy one. I ran out of time and had to return to business as usual. When I returned to the site 30 minutes later, everything was sold. :(

Not at all surprising. They are a-frikkin-mazing pieces. The first thing that went through my head when I got mine was "WOW!...They could get away with charging a lot more for this!" Honestly I've been really surprised that they haven't been selling on the exchange for a significant increase from what TNK sells them for.

The latest batch look stunning blades, some utilizes high HRC steels and exotic material. Milling and machining of all the components are nicely done. And the weight is incredibly ligth considering it is a full size folder. This knife to me has the elements of an RJ Martin and William Henry.

I don't know anything about these knives, but this story tells you that the prices are still too low.

Price is quite high I think. Since you can't buy directly from Shirogorov himself, and Tnk is the official U.S. retailer they can basically charge what they want for such a limited supply of knives in such high demand. At least with RJ's or Hinderer's you can have a shot at one in a lotto. I'm not saying your chances are good or excellent, but it's better than having to pay up a full markup from the start. Not to mention the supply of those makers in the U.S. is greater than there are shirogorv flippers out there.

I just feel that the fact he's based in Russia and has only one U.S. site that sells his stuff, greatly affects price. If there were multiple outlets for his knives not only would supply increase, but price would also be much more affordable.

Machining is different esp on the blades. Now they have some with FFG as well as some that greatly resemble Sinkevitch's blade design.

I was ready to buy but when i saw what he was charging i decided to pass.
He certainly has got the market cornered as far as the shirogorov's are concerned and knows it...

Yeah, I was hoping to score one yesterday too but unfortunately the model I wanted was too pricey for me. Anyone know if the price hikes are permanent or if yesterday's pricing is just due to limited supply?

I think he's only going to keep raising prices knowing full well that he's got basically no competition.
I don't care if it is limited supply i can not justify $ 1800.00 dollars for a model 95!

I don't trust the guy he told me numerous times that he had over 50 of them and was going to release 75% of them and then he releases 14???? and was also told 3 different release dates.

Then sends an email stating the release time and has people f fiving for like 40 minutes... not very good customer service if you ask me.

Shirogorov have some projects together with Sinkevitch. More precisely they cooperate on a regular basis.

I really like these knives but I want one with an axis style lock and a thumb stud and those seldom seem to appear. I think custom knives in general have become ridiculously expensive.

These Shirogorov Mod 95 folders are quality but the prices are just way out there now!

I really wish I could justify one. Guess I will just have to settle for a less expensive, USA-made custom. ;)

One thing that really put me off was TNK's warranty, primarily the fact that repairs only happen once a year at Blade Show.
Also, warranty only applies to original owner, but I guess that is not unheard of.

In my opinion, considering TNK's not insignificant markup, I would expect a better warranty.

Must be fate ... after passing on the overpriced shirogrov's i happened upon a new blade show 2013 kirby lambert scorpios with ikbs for 550.00... in your face Tnk!

I agree with most of those who said the price was too high. Due to deleteriousness on behalf of TrueNorth, I missing out, but I was taken aback when I returned to the website and saw the "Out of Stock" purchase price! Eight months ago, I purchased a brand new Mod 95 for $675. The same model is now $950. The demand has caused over a 40% increase in less than a year.

I think he's only going to keep raising prices knowing full well that he's got basically no competition.

Having stated the above, there is only one Mod 95 that I would be willing to spend over $2000 for. Check out this video and fast forward to 00:43 seconds to witness the most beautiful Shirogorov I've yet to see; Timascus/Damascus Mod 95. Oh my!
