This is prob a stupid question but is there a way to get pocket lint, dirt, and other crud out of the bearings without disassembly? Any ideas and tips would be very helpful

You can try blowing it out with compressed air. The caveat with that is the moisture content coming out of the compressor. I live in a moist environment and as water content is compressed in equal measure to air, you can be injecting a pretty fair amount of water into a place that's almost impossible to dry out. Canned air/electronics cleaner is a reasonable alternative, especially if purchased from a discount supplier (fill in the name of a job-lot or big-box outlet store).
Edit: If a knife needs a little more attention after attempting to blow it out and I still don't feel like a complete take-down, I might loosen the pivot and stop pin, leaving a little more room for forced air to do its work. I think I'd be reluctant to do so with a ball or roller bearing knife for fear of blowing some of those little suckers away and into the wind, as it were.
