Shiva sent me money for two tickets for myself and Sgt. Stokes, plus extra money to eat and drink on the way. Shiva picked us up at midnight in his shiney new Chevy Impala(love that new car smell), and he immediatly advised me of a glitch in giving me his 30 year old Wilton grinder. He had bought a new grinder, with Baldor electronic controls, and in two weeks, the speed control had failed,so he had to keep his old wilton as a backup for the new grinder. Remarkably he had a new Grizzly grinder in the trunk for me as well as a buffer and a bench vise. I could tell by the look on his fase he felt bad about the situation, but I am exceedingly greatful for all he has given me. During a tour of the grounds, Shiva recounted his dismal experiences with Baldor. He had bought s new Baldor moter and speed control to upgrade his old grinder. Well the speed control was bad, never worked. He sent it back to Baldor with the motor . They called him, saying that he must buy a new speed control(refusing to honor thier warrenty-and kept his new motor refusing to return it. So he ordered a new Wilton grinder with a baldor speed control. it failed after only two weeks. So he had to keep his old grinder. So as not to disappoint me, he went out and bought me a new 72' Grizzly. Shiva sayes brware of the dishonorable corprate theives at Baldor. at best their electronics are unreliable at worst they are junk. Buyer beware of Baldor.
He put new brakes on the Ford escort that he gave me as well as his extensive martail arts library since I love to read and I am facinated with the martial arts. Shiva also allowed us to videotape some of his moves, it was facinating to watch this 64 year old Toughman Contest record holder go to town on a heavy bag. I noticed the plaque on the wall that told of Mr. Ki being inducted into the martial arts hall of fame. It is nice to recive instruction from someone who is not trying to sell anything, or convince me of how tough they are. the evidence was all around me. he then demonsrated the Japanese healing art of Shiatsu of wich he is a master.I also would like to thank Shiva s' son Ram for the use of his extensive firearm collection and ammunition. Its hard to keep Marines and guns apart. Thanks to Shiva again for his support of the troops in so many ways. This amazingly generous man is a warrior among warriors. Sgt. Sanders USMC

Good question.Almost all his ramblings are about Shiva Ki.My guess is he is Shiva Ki,either way his posts don't offer more than some slight entertainment.

I need a Porsche. I want a Porsche.

Where is Shiva?????

That's all....................

I am sorry that I did not explain myself clearly. I am a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps who for about two years now have been in contact with Shiva. He has helped me out on several occassions as I have listed here on BF. The story I posted is the most recent example of his kindness. By the way, I thought BF was about knives and knifemakers. So why do people seem to have alot to say when I praise a knifemakers kindness. and no I dont post about much here because I am not a keyboard commando.

You don't have to be a "keyboard commando" to post here. That saying implies that you are some 14 year old wannabe, which is not in question.

Mr. Ki has had a somewhat contentious presence here on the Forums, but no one doubts that he is a fine maker. His online persona has been extremely strange in the past, so the response that you are getting now is entirely in keeping with past persona.

Welcome, and keep those that extend you kindness in the forefront of your thoughts when you are in a position to repay them.

1) you might want to check out past threads about shiva ki and see just why people tend to raise an eyebrow when his name comes up,

2) so nice of you to imply that only "keyboard commando" would "post much".

Did not mean that as an insult to anyone who posts alot on this forum. I simply do not post about many subjects. Don't have that much time with a computer. Nothing against any of you. Besides, what would I read if nobody posted. By all means if you have the time and the expertise on a given subject, post all you want.

Sgt.Sanders,
Firstly,
Thank you for your service.
Shiva speaks highly of you,I enjoy Shiva's knives as well.
Just shipped him a Spirit blade for a tune up yesterday.
It got beat up in a cutting test by Matt Lamey and Jimmy Fikes in another thread.
You'll get a cool reception here concerning Shiva, but I really dig stuff I see posted about him.
Thanks again,
Doug

I do not understand, it seems to me that Shiva has earned and deserves more respect than he is getting, from what I have read about him he is unique, maybe a little encentric, personally I have a lot of admiration for the man & his ecomplishments,

Look, Leon,

Mr. Ki is a unique individual, and certainly worthy of respect, but he flat out bashed another respected maker here in the Forums who did not deserve it.

That alone, is poor netiquette to say the least, and it went downhill from there.

I own, and enjoy, a Shiva Ki Small Spirit, so I can say that he makes a fine knife, but his online persona got him into trouble, and banned from here. It is all researchable. I consider Doug Castor to be a good egg, and other Ki-aites have also shown themselves to be stand up netizens, but some have also been long winded, blowhards, with a chip on any part of the body you choose.

"Humility is a quality or characteristic ascribed to a person who is considered to be humble. A humble person is generally thought to be unpretentious and modest: someone who does not think that he or she is better or more important than others."

Shiva makes some of the nicest blades I've seen.I respect him for his talent.I respect him for his kindness/generosity he has shown for others, based on some posts about him in the past.I have no problem with someone that lists their credentials and has pride in their work.
I do have a problem with someone being overly boastful about one's accomplishments, the knives they make, and in the same breath bashing other makers.I do have a problem with someone that can't play nice on our forum, and making physical threats to other members. If you do a search for his posts you may understand why he doesn't get the warmest reception around here.

Well, I think his knives are ugly, and the whole "Master bought me a car" thing smacks of chicken-hawkery. Kinda sorry, I asked, actually. *shrugs and wanders off*

Well, glad we got your 2 cents, what aspects of his knives do you find ugly?
And which knives in particular?
And where'd you find the "Master, bought me a car reference"?
I missed THAT one!

I have never referred to 'Mr. Ki as 'Master 'at all! Jesus has my heart, my ass belongs to the Corps, and my wife has dibbs on the rest of my anatomy. So I dont see much room for anymore Masters in my life. Mentor and friend have a nice ring to it though.

Here ya'll go, pissing on Shiva again.
Leave the man alone if he cannot defend himself here.

Last Chance was making some great comments on ya'll take any chance to crap on Shiva
