AP - Seattle, WA. Researchers at the University of Washington today announced they had successfully crossbred a Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) with a Wolf (canis lupus) using undisclosed genetic manipulation techniques. Spokesmen for the university declined to comment on whether cloning was involved.
Made Ya look!
Actually, this is Hero, one of my two new woods buddies. He and his sister, Gracie are getting used to casa de Pritch and winning hearts wherever they go. (Why, oh WHY didn't I know the "power of puppy" when I was single?!?) They are four months old and are just starting formal training. They should be well suited to backpacking but I may want to put Hunter Orange vests on them to keep them from getting shot!
Hero & Gracie
Gracie
My wife has expressed interest in training Gracie to be a Therapy Dog but I'm hoping Hero will work out as a SAR Tracking dog. Gracie looks a lot like Tasha, who we lost last January. For the weird files: These new pups were born EXACTLY one year to the day from when Tasha died!

Trust me on this - Two puppies at one time is not for the faint at heart!
